The day was filled with a  mixture of thrill and anxiety just with the simplest idea of seeing my little "tummy worm" breathing and growing inside me.

With the gushing humid air and a hot weather on June 18, 2002 during our summer visit to the Philippines, my husband and I went to St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City, Philippines to take on the chance of getting a first glimpse of our little loved bud barely a month old, and so that WAS what we thought!

I went inside a room full of glowing and not so glowing women (must be the weather!). I am sure I shared a slice of the not so glowing women in the room. Duh? Do I need to talk about morning sickness, humidity and heat all rolled into one! Anyway, some women were already proudly showing off their expanding tummy whereas I was still wearing a whistle bait size one jeans (naks! like I can ever wear them again!).

It was supposed to be an exclusive for girls kinda thing. No husbands nor boyfriends were allowed inside the testing area. Yet, my husband, I guess  being an American that he is, requested (a complete understatement!) insisted (like it is his right!) to join my intra-vaginal ultrasound test. Surprised as I was, I guessed he used his charm and got his way around the medical personnels and joined me in the entire intra-vaginal medical routine.

Did I say intra-vaginal ultrasound? Do I have to give specifics? Oh well, too bad but with this one I will have to let it is just speak for itself! Anyway, as the exam progressed, the most touching part of it was when my husband David saw our little angel in a small TV-like monitor; all too suddenly, droplets of tears fell from my husband's eyes while whispering "that's our little one." Believe me, it was a real moving experience for me!

The experience was far more moving I guess for my husband as it was for me. While he was watching our little one at the monitor he pointed at several areas "fatherly" assuming that one part is our baby's heart beating rapidly and another part are his hands. Such an imaginative father to be, not to mention unusually funny having given everyone in the test room some little giggles with his wild imagination! The day ended with us being happy knowing and fully realizing that we have a healthy baby growing inside me.

Well, this is pretty much the run-down of our little intra-vaginal ultrasound adventure.

The following pages will take you to Dawson Dean Pearson's very first pictures. It is an amazing mystery - seeing a budding life at 7 weeks old. We hope that you will enjoy the little journey as much as we did.
