'Laying on of Bodies' Almost all of us have heard the New Testament term of the 'laying on of hands' in prayer over someone that is sick. For without knowing the science of what is happening, we do realize that it us, making a literal connection with the person we are praying for. And because the Lord's love has power, it literally works miracles if done in the Lord's Spirit. But did you know that in the Old Testament, the Lord used this spiritual energy even more profoundly with his two prophets, Elijah and Elisha. For they literally brought two people back from the dead. And how did they do it….shockingly by the 'laying on of their bodies upon the deceased'. That's what it says, so you can make your own conclusions 1Ki 17:19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed. And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth. And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth And then later, this same thing happened with Elisha, who was earned the mantle of Elijah. 2Kings 4:27 And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked. And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. So as obnoxious as you might say these prophets measures were, in their case it was the Lord because of the life that was brought back into those that were asleep or as we say dead. For didn't Jesus many times also just reach out and touch people to heal them. Or didn’t they reach out and merely touch the hem of his garment or mantle to get healed Mathew 9:18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the HAND, and the maid arose. And then later on it said that many more just wanted to touch the hem of his garment as did this woman in this passage did. So was there not healing in His hands and even in His Mantle, and was it not the electricity of the Lord that made everything right and brought people back to life and health. Mathew 14:35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole. Why, were they made perfectly whole because Jesus wasn’t just a man, but the Creator Himself. So there is definitely something sacred and special transferred in touching another human being, for whether we know the science of how the Lord makes it work matters not. All we need to know is that the Lord's love and touching of 'laying on of hands' works and the 'laying on off bodies' worked.
