Bad news from Baptist Standard: Marv Knox is a hippie.

Fall 2004

Marv Knox, the editor of the Baptist Standard, continues to show evidence that he and the Baptist Standard and the BGCT are swinging more and more towards the religious left. Consider this: "Right now, it's presented as legal question of women's rights. It ought to be a common question of reducing, and ideally eliminating, abortions." Nonsense, Mr. Knox. LIBERALS present it as a question of women's rights. 'FUNDAMENTALISTS' present it as a question of human life. BALANCED CONSERVATIVES LIKE MYSELF present it as a question of women's rights vs. human life.

Don't misunderstand this, ladies and gentlemen. Marv Knox, like the rest of the BGCT (DBU for instance), are trying to distance themselves from so-called 'Fundamentalists,' namely the SBCT and SBC. Anyways, . . .

"I don't know a pro-choice advocate who wants to see the abortion total increase." Mr. Knox has forgotten Planned Parenthood, who has fought in TX lately to reduce an emphasis on abstinence. Why? DON'T YOU GET IT, KNOX? They want money. It's all about the mulah, and the mulah comes from abortion, the mulah comes from sex. Planned Parenthood wants more sex, more pregnancies, more abortions, more money. John Kerry is a better man than Planned Parenthood's leadership (unless they are, in fact, women, to paraphrase Jack Sparrow); I think Kerry really does want the number of abortions decreased. I know Harry Reid does.

"It's time to be pragmatic about abortion; rather than grasping for a judicial goal that may prove as elusive as the Holy Grail . . . ." Mr. Knox, those 'Fundamentalists' with whom you do not wish to associate are doing just that. We call it 'abstinence.' I'll stay away from state politics, because the more important example is President Bush.

Knox would have us believe that Christian Fundamentalists are ignoring the root of the abortion problem, unwanted pregnancies, and that we all need to work together in D. C. to reduce such things. MR. KNOX, PRESIDENT BUSH SUPPORTS ABSTINENCE EDUCATION. DEMOCRATS USUALLY DON'T.

And how about this article? Who said that? Since when is abortion merely a sexual issue? I could have sweared it was an issue of HUMAN LIFE. Note this, ladies and gentelemen: note that this is what 'liberals' and, to a lesser extent, 'moderates', do: confuse the issues, thinking that the destruction of human life is not by definition a greater tragedy/atrocity than any merely 'sexual' issue. Confuse the issue, to think that it is merely a sexual issue. No, it's not. No, no no. Have you never heard of DNA, gentlemen? This is a human being.
