The imperfect tense in verse 1 becomes an aorist tense in verse 14. The "was" morphs into "became." Where is the eternal? It is in time, in the here, the now. The measurement of zero thickness and breadth is in reality unlimited thickness and breadth. Where is infinity? It is there in the bounded, limited object. You can touch it. You can kiss infinity. Where is eternity? It is expressed in a day. It is there, before us, flickering in a single moment, there in the the flickering moment, in a momentary flash of infinite time, there in the cloistered immensity of a womb, a manger, a house, a road, a cross, a tomb, a seaside, a moutaintop ...
--gone.
Returned. Eternity flickers from within time, the infinite is bounded in space once more ... in the hearts of the redeemed.
