This is the sod house my grandparents moved to in 1911, it was located about 35 miles southeast of Alliance. The house was only 16 feet by 26 feet. My grandmother ran a post office out of the house so the postal service told her she had to name it. Eventuality it was named Thelma after my aunt.Today you can still find some calenders with a map of Nebraska that will have the town of Thelma on it. My grandparents moved by Chambers Nebraska in 1914.
This is another picture of branding calves. My grandfather is kneeling, my aunt Thelma is sitting on the calf, and my grandmother is standing in the back. She is the taller of the three women.
