The History of Defsquad

The history of defsquad has been long and complicated. The original DEFSQUAD was started by Phil da agony in May of 1999 (this is the only date we are sure of). The squad started as an SBL only clan that caught many pilots attention for its amazing ability to win games while at the same time maintaining a fun atmosphere and comradity. A few months after the founding phil da agony began recruiting former =Sheeba= members. With this group came several long standing members. One of which was Renegade_19 (now known as renegade!), who brought along his web design skill had became the first DEFSQUAD webmaster. renegade! is the only former =Sheeba= pilot still on the squad. After only 1 successful season, DEFSQUAD began losing members, due to some say, the fact that the squad had become to large, but according to Phil da agony because of his laziness. During this troubled time in DEF's past Phil went MIA, and many members came and went, with resignations being posted almost every day. At this time DEFSQUAD went dormant, being a "shadow squad" that existed but did not compete. The great co-capt Radiohead tried his hardest to keep the squad together during Phil da agony's time away, but eventually failed. The news on the website went dead. The chat became inactive. Then the ownership was accidently given to the wrong person, and DEFSQUAD was lost forever. Upon Phil da agony's return to the 17th parallel, he created HITTSQUAD, inviting all former squaddies to return under this new name. Many returned, but many attempted to start their own squads, and many failed. And now, with Phil da agony, renegade!, and snake16, back to the full time operation of the new DeF$quaD, it has proven to be the best ever, and promises to rise to the top of the 17th parallel.
