....And now for a little about A Wood Nymph

nymph (nîmf) noun

1. Greek & Roman Mythology. Any of numerous minor deities represented as  maidens inhabiting and sometimes personifying features of nature such as trees, waters, and mountains.

As a 45 year old DWPF with two teenaged boys. Living in the wilds of Central Jersey, a mild mannered mother of two I am not! I enjoy the Arts, theatre, dance, and good film but my favorite has to be sailing through turquoise waters of the Caribbean sipping Painkillers in my bare feet. I don't complain that subtitles give me a headache since I enjoy being challenged in the dark. Hold my interest, and I will repay the favor. Tell me stories of a not-so-dull past and I could listen for hours. I have a passion for life and living and wish to share my time with others of the same ilk  who have the drive to reach for the stars with both feet firmly on the ground. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, trekking through NYC, horseback riding, sailing or simply relaxing at home. I'd have to say, that the passions that top my charts are sailing and travel, and when they are coupled together....I'm in heaven!  Since almost anything outdoors will do,  I actually spent one New Years Eve camping with my boys! (of course the woodstove in the lean-to helped to make it cozy). You will find me always looking for new experiences, either aloft in a Hot Air Balloon or honing my sailing skills.

Sailing locally with my buddy Cutaway

Professionally I'm a geekette, and have worked as both a wage slave, and as an independent systems consultant. Yes, I am a woman who revels in her independence. I tend towards more of a creative bent to balance out the geekiness of my chosen occupation...so I often strive to encompass both within a work engagement.  (am I trying to balance both halves of my brain?) I dabbled in many areas before falling into geekdom.  I still long to be a cartoon when I grow up, if only as a voice-over artist.  My father envisioned me as a National Geographic Photographer, instead once upon a time I was one of those annoying Baby Photographers you find in the likes of K-Mart, and Wallmart. Food is a passion that nearly drove me to culinary school, instead now I settle for good food and wine to simply satisfy some of my pleasure units.

Some of my favorite quotes are:

"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished to see how much he had learned in seven years "-- Mark Twain

"Since it is not granted us to live long, let us transmit to posterity some memorial that we have at least lived"  -- Pliny the Younger

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage" -- Anais Nin

"To much of a good thing can be wonderful "-- Mae West

"If the world were a logical place, men would ride side-saddle." -- Rita Mae Brown

"When choosing between two evils, I always like to pick the one I never tried before." -- Mae West

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all." -- Oscar Wilde

"The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing: we know this in countless ways". -- Blaise Pascal

"Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps"  -- Emo Phillips

Even though no quotes were listed from them, I grew up inspired by the likes of Carl Jung, and my buddy 'ol Albert Einstein (especially in the area of imagination and inspiration)  just to name two...I strive to be a muse...if not amusing,

So come tickle my Mental Bone, and I may follow.....and in the meantime will someone pull the ..."Will Crew for Food" sign off my back?
