This part of the site... is gonna be for the movie bits, adverts, basically non musical actvivties John gets up to. I'll be as accurate as possible & I'll add details as I find them.... Acting roles... The Order Of Death: (also titled Copkiller in Europe and Corrupt in America) Virgin Films. John co-stared in this 1983 film along side Harvey Keitel. Basically a cop killer is preying on corrupt narcotics detectives, the police have no idea who it is. The killer wears a ski mask and a police uniform and slashes his victims throats with a bread knife after dirty drug deals, leaving no clues. John Lydon is Leo Smith, a strange young Englishman who begins to stalk O'Conner (Keitel) a police lieutenant. The soundtrack to this movie was done by composer Ennio Morricone PiL were apparently going to do it and wrote The Slab (The Order Of Death), and most likely 'Commercial Zone' tracks Lou Reed Part 1 and Miller Hi-Life (both instrumental) for the film to. This film can be purchased online at amazon.com (use search word 'corrupt') (click here for cover and screen shot) The Independent 2000 Arrow Entertainment I don't have too much on this but I'm working on it! John makes a cameo as a party planner called 'BaRuce'. The movie stars Janeane Garofalo and Jerry Stiller. It's a comedy produced by Mike Wilkens, and premiered at 'Comedy Fest January 21, 2000. Television... Rotten Television VH1 Seven episodes were set to be aired, although only 2 have been made. First shown on VH1 (a mellow MTV) on 23/01/2000 in USA. It was'nt supposed to be a weekly show or anything, it was on a 'when John has something to say basis', which is fair enough I suppose! By February 2001 Rotten and VH1 are on different wave lengths and the show is scrapped. It's possible another network could pick it up in the future, but this may only be wishful thinking on my behalf. Episode one; included behind the scenes footage of the 'Roseanne Show' (oct '99) in which John was scheduled to appear. He's told he can only speak to her if he say's nothing derogatory to her. He refuse's, stating - 'If I did say something derogatory to her, it be because she deserved it.' John and crew are removed from the set by security. Also in episode one, is John's 'Cleansing Of The Century' which involves John using a tank to destroy a blow up doll dressed in Chers trousers, a signed Sex Pistols NMTB t-shirt, Motley Crue boots and Grateful Dead underpants! The doll also had Sid's suiside note in it's mouth. 'It's what these people have done thats relevant, not what they wore while doing it.' he states. VJ's are auditioned and show their incompetence and lack of important music history knowledge. Episode two; is filmed at the Sundance Film Festival where John attended to promote The Filth and the Fury in January 2000, different in style to episode one but the show has no strict format. Autobiography... Rotten - No Irish No Blacks No Dogs Hodder and Stroughton Publishing 1994 This best seller has been reprinted several times and is a definite must for all Sex Pistols fans, fanatic and casual alike. It is a fucking great read. It includes chapters from Johns closest friends, his wife Nora, his father and contributions from Steve and Paul among others who were there. I would have loved more PiL content, don't get me wrong this beast stands well as it is, it's focused mostly on the Pistols era, actually thinking about it a little more if the PiL content was added it would have had to have been sold as a series!. John has made the remark that a PiL book will appear one day 'Which I think will be far more interesting' he said. Radio... Rotten Day This was a two minute 'this day in rock history' segment on syndicated american radio in 1996. The show was scripted by George Gimarc who wrote the fantastic 'Punk Diary'. Two CD's exist with out takes of the show, which may be tricky to track down, but I have found alot of them on MP3 file sharing thingys like Napster etc. Rotten Radio Not in action any more which completely bites. If you heard it you'll know, it was what the internet was waiting for, an honest uncensored show, about anything and everything hosted by someone as out spoken as they come. Launched December 4, 1999 this was a 4 hour internet based show, broadcast from John's own home in LA via E-Yada.com. Listeners could call in live, e-mail or post questions comments into John. (which I did, and he even said he kinda liked my e-mail - yeah it's a big deal to me, so...) As with Rotten TV, Rotten Radio is officially scrapped in February, 2001 due to lack of promotion by E-Yada. Bastards. next... |
