Tibetan Buddhist Study and Meditation Center

Karma Thegsum Chöling Meditation and Study Center (KTC) www.kagyu.org

KTC meditation and study center was established in 1979 by, His Holiness, the XVI Karmapa, head of the Kagyu Lineage. It is now one of more than two dozen KTC centers across the United States, Canada, and South America. KTC meetings are held in Albany.

The center is managed by students of Khenpo ("abbot") Kart'har Rinpoché and Venerable Bardor Tulku Rinpoché . Both teachers are based in Woodstock, NY at the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery and Retreat Center (KTD) .

Information for Newcomers

All are welcome to attend Sunday morning meetings. Calm abiding (shamata) meditation is held Sunday from 10-11 AM, with free instruction available. The meditation is followed by tea and informal discussion. Newcomers are encouraged to receive meditation instruction - please call in advance.

Wednesdays, Chenrezig and Amitabha practice from 7 - 8:00 PM is open to all those who have taken Refuge. These practices will often be followed by a teaching or other event. On the first Wednesday of every month, the Medicine Buddha practice will be held.

Call (518) 374-1792 for confirmation and directions to the meeting place of any of these gatherings.

Membership

The contributions of members and friends are the sole source of KTC's income. Membership is available on two levels:

Full Membership requires formal entry on the Buddhist Path through the Refuge ceremony. Members take refuge in the Buddha as a teacher, the Dharma (his teachings) as guidelines, and the Sangha (spiritual community) as helpers. Full members pay dues of $25 per month which supports both the center and the monastery in Woodstock.

Associate Membership is open to anyone, even those who have not taken Refuge, and is available for those who feel a connection to the center and wish to lend their support in a regular, on-going way. Minimum dues in this case are $10 per month and go solely toward the center.

Donations

Special donations are accepted for the following (contact KTC for more details.):
