"The Sangha can be described as a stream of life going in the direction
of emancipation, joy, and peace. The only condition for us
to enter the stream of the Holy Sangha is that we practice." -- Thich Nhat Hanh
The Stone River Sangha was created by students of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh who live in the capital district and want to apply the principles of mindfulness practice and "interbeing" to everyday life.
Information for Newcomers
The Stone River Sangha welcomes anyone interested in Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings and wishes to practice meditation and mindfulness trainings in the spirit of the Order of Interbeing. We meet in Delmar every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM to support one another in the practice. Each meeting begins with 30 minutes of sitting meditation and 10 minutes of walking meditation. These are followed by a different activity every week. On the first Wednesday of each month, we recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings and share our experiences in applying these trainings to daily life. On the second and fourth Wednesdays of the months, we discuss selected sutras and texts. The third and fifth weeks may include guided meditation, discussion, or readings. Days of Mindfulness, visits to other Order of Interbeing Sanghas, and various social and educational events are also scheduled throughout the year.
For information regarding Wednesday night gatherings please call Dan or Lori at 475-9468.
