INTRODUCTION:
1993, Peter Milligan, a British writer,
with the artistic talents of Duncan Fegredo, created a comic book that
touched on existentialism, nihilism, surrealism, sexuality, and morality.
A book where the narrative and captions at times spoke directly to the
readers and not merely stated the obvious. The book was titled, "EnIGMa."
British comics writers are known to make the simple, predictable plot twists have a fresh new feel and approach. Many are among the best in the world such as Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Alan Grant, Bryan Talbot, and John Wagner whose books are always filled with stories that have meaning and provoke deep thought.
EnIGMa is no exception to this.
Unfortunately, the American public saw this comic as dull and uninterest-stirring. Thus, this has also been the comic dubbed "the worse selling Vertigo comic" by some people.
I personally enjoyed EnIGMa immensely and feel saddenned by the fact that it only an eight-issue mini-series and not an on-going title of Vertigo comics.
Hopefully, I do justice to the book as I attempt to write "the ENIGMA grows" the DCF sequel to Milligan and Fegredo's book.
This book also stands as the prelude to a line of DCF books by yours truly. After reading The Enigma Grows, do check out Afterlife and Little Deaths... both made available on this website or at DCFutures. Thank you very much!Read the miniseries The Engima Grows.
