How is KBCBR funded? We are able to continue our mission thru donations and adoption fees. We are also in the process of opening a Bird Boarding facility to help offset the cost of the rescue mission, and have applied for non profit status 501 (c) (3). What are our adoption fees? Adoption fees vary and is determined by species and needs of the bird. What type of donations do we accept? We accept many types of donations & all are greatly appreciated. Monetary- this helps pay for veterinarian visits, supplies and maintaining our facility. Cages- both large and small. Food- seeds, fruits, nuts, pellets Supplies- newspaper, perches (plastic and natural wood), dishes, bird baths, toys, cuttle bones & mineral blocks, vitamins, heating pads, carriers (for transporting), equipment such as incubators, full spectrum fluorescent lamps/fixtures, ceramic/infrared heat lamps, room thermometers with humidity readings, etc. and very important--- first aide supplies ( we humans usually end up needing first aide more than the birds! But we all still have our fingers!) Gift certificates- from local pet stores, hardware stores , or avian veterinarians. What is the adoption process? Each bird that enters our doors is thoroughly screened before placing them up for adoption. Once a birds needs have been determined we strive to find the perfect match! We do require an adoption fee which varies by species and need. The money recieved from adoptions is returned to the rescue fund to be used for the needs of other birds. We have found that often people are misinformed about birds which plays a large factor in why many birds end up in our program. We strive to ensure that anyone who desires to adopt understands the FULL responsibility of owning a bird. Once adopted no bird may be sold, given away or used as breeders unless approved by KBCBR. If the new owner can no longer keep the bird it is to be returned to KBCBR unless other arrangements have been approved. |
