"Operational Questioning"

Stardate: 60298.1615
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
After having escorted the XO back to the bridge and
briefing her on their situation, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid had quickly returned to her post to continue
working on finding a way to get Lt. Pravat out of
danger without risking anyone else's life. Believing
that her knowledge of the Tal'Shiar would be the key
to finding a solution, the COO tried everything she
could think of to penetrate the interference field
that had been created around the bridge of the
frigate.
Following several failed attempts the Romulan/Terran
hybrid came to the conclusion that her knowledge of
the methods and techniques used by the Romulan Intel
Agency was insufficient.
Listening in on a conversation between the XO and
CSciO, the COO was made aware of a detail that could
in a way explain the lack of success that the
Romulan/Terran hybrid had met with.
Like the COO, the XO had dove into the situation
tackling the problem from a different angle, enlisting
the aid of the CSciO from the start. "Have you
completed the analysis of that interference field?"
The Romulan/Terran hybrid did not need to look back
at the Shillian to see the enthusiasm that radiated
from the scientist, indicating that the CSciO had
found something of interest. "A ran a complete scan
of the interference field that surrounds the bridge of
the frigate and discovered it to possess a temporal
signature. I mean it is not a temporal field but that
the field generator is somehow able to shift the field
into a temporal misalignment causing our instruments,
such as the transporter, to become ineffective when
trying to reach beyond it."
Having overheard the report, the CO jumped in with a
question of his own. "Temporal shifting? I was not
aware that the Romulans possessed such technology."
Although in the IGC helping Lt. Dawson with his
efforts to gain access to the frigate's computer, the
ILO made her presence known to the members of the
senior staff on the bridge, relaying the data she
possessed while at the same time informing the CO that
she had also been listening in. =/\= They don't. =/\=
Following the short statement made by the ILO, the
COO added her theory to the mix. "Maybe the
technology used is not of Romulan origin. It is
possible that the Vorta who 'borrowed' the ship had
brought it with him to use it in case of complications
to insure that no one would be able to discover that
the ship was not manned by Romulans."
Nodding his support of the theory presented by the
Romulan/Terran hybrid the CO stood from his chair and
approached the Ops station. "If this is the case,
then we possibly have the key to penetrating this
field and rescuing our officer in our brig. Lt.
Serenna, see what you can get from our Vorta guest."
The COO spun her chair around with such speed that
the Romulan/Terran hybrid almost sent herself flying
from it. "Me? Surely Cmdr. Rikar or Lt. Cmdr. Enaii
would be far better to conduct such an interrogation."
Looking as if he understood the reason for the
objection that was made, the CO offered the COO with a
stern yet reassuring glance. "Cmdr. Rikar and Lt.
Cmdr. Enaii are at the moment engaged in their own
duties, and we need them both to be where they are.
As former Sec/Tac officer and considering your
knowledge of Tal'Shiar methods, I consider you to be
the best choice for the job."
Although ready to argue this with the CO, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid knew better than to go up
against Capt. Simmons. He had made up his mind and
the responsibility to finding out about the origin of
this technology had been handed down to the COO, that
she liked it or not.
