Setting: USS ANUBIS, Brig -> Corridor

Serenna entered the brig and stood behind the protective force field for an instant looking at the Vorta prisoner therein. Although he had been captured and his mission to get the Mind Stone had failed, the Dominion servant appeared very confident to the point of arrogance. The Ops officer had not expected to see fear in the Vorta's eye, but she had not anticipated to see him be so smug about his predicament.

"Ah, you must be my interrogator. I was beginning to worry that something had happened to keep you busy," Serul said as only a Vorta could. Demeaning yet polite in their tone.

"The Federation does not interrogate their prisoners," Serenna said in return. Anyone who dealt with Intel knew that any interrogation of a Vorta would prove to be pointless. Their devotion to their gods was too absolute making the race of genetically bred servants more than ready to die for the Founders. With that in mind the hybrid had hoped that a more diplomatic approach would prove more successful.

"The Federation may not interrogate its prisoners, but this is not a Federation ship. Is it? At least not on the inside after you have peeled the layers of deception that are everywhere. You and I both know that this ship and its crew follow a different set of rules. That is why you came to TOLAR IV and why you are here now to ask me about the extra equipment that was brought on the Romulan frigate." Serul said sounding more smug than ever.

Serenna sighed. Serul had been so confident about what would happen next that he had no qualms about confirming that Dominion technology had been at play. This confirmation though was a long way from having the Vorta give up anything that they might be able to use to reach the Tal Shiar agents and the injured Marine CO.

"The Dominion had planned all along for the blame to fall onto the Romulans, why?" Serenna asked. The question had nothing to do with the reason she was here, but if Serul answered it might give the hybrid an insight that she lacked into the Founder's way of thinking.

"Tsk, tsk tsk. You are not focussing or thinking. I would have expected someone with Romulan blood running through her veins to figure this out long ago."

"Revenge for the Romulans having helped the Federation defeat the Dominion during the war?" Serenna said, anger mounting in her voice.

"There might be hope for you and your second-rate race after all," Serul said with a wide grin, "but it won't change the outcome for this ship. The Romulans are too predictable and I suspect that this discussion will end very soon despite the efforts of your friends."

"Help us," the hybrid said moving closer to the force field. "If the frigate explodes you have the same odds of being killed as the rest of us."

"How you and your kind were able to defeat us without truly understanding us still amazes me. I am at the service of the Founders," Serul said with a deep bow of reverence. "My life is theirs and since I have failed in my mission, I am already dead. The only joy that I have left is to see all of you perish."

Serenna stormed out of the brig and into the corridor waiting for the doors to close behind her before reaching for her communicator. "Lt. Serenna to the bridge. It has been confirmed, the interference field generator is of Dominion origin and was brought onboard after which means that it is likely not integrated into the ship's main power system."

=/\= Well done Lieutenant. Return to the bridge. I'll relay the information to David and Enaii. =/\= The First officer replied.

Setting: Oceanic World, inside the downed shuttle which is sinking into the ocean

Lea cradled her legs against her chest, trying to keep as much of the heat she and Luke generated. According to the instruments the shuttle had only descended a few hundred meters below the surface, but it had been enough to cause the temperature to drop significantly.

"You know," Lea said through chattering teeth, "I would take being in a brig of a ship that was about ready to explode over being here. At least I would be warm and looking forward to a quick end."

"Being negative has never saved anyone," Luke said repositioning himself to rub the SFI's arms to create more heat. "As bad as this may be, you have to look on the bright side of things."

"Bright side of this?" Lea asked, before looking into Luke's enchanting eyes to find the answer to her own question. "You're right," the SFI Agent added with a soft smile, wishing silently that she had been given more time to know the man in front of her better. Maybe they could have been friends, or maybe even more.
