"Going Home"
Previous Post: "Rescue Me"

Stardate: 60298.1801
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Having returned to the ANUBIS safe and sound, and
escorted Ensign Summers to Sickbay so that the CMO
could give her a complete once over, the COO had
returned to the bridge. Stepping out of the turbolift
the Romulan/Terran hybrid saw Pravat standing outside
of the CO's ready room making the Ops officer
understand that their newest guest had been with the
Captain. Judging by the expression on the Marine's
face, Pravat did not trust this Lt Onison and expected
Capt. Simmons to call him in at any moment to escort
the man to the brig or the nearest airlock.
Making her way to the operations station, the XO
intercepted the Romulan/Terran hybrid and asked about
the condition of the woman they had found. "How is
she?"
The COO flashed a faint smile as she thought back to
the way the CMO and his patient had reacted to
stepping into the ANUBIS' Sickbay. The moment the
doors had opened, the Doctor had rushed into his
office and emptied what little had been left of his
stomach content, the turbulence that the BARRACUDA had
endured during its journey back having been just as
bad as the first time around. Surprisingly enough,
Ensign Summers had strolled in and looked around as if
she had always been there, an expression of
familiarity on her visage. Bringing her thoughts back
to the present, the Romulan/Terran hybrid answered the
XO's question. "Ensign Summers is fine, but her
medical examination might take a little while to be
completed, our valiant Doctor not having done as well
when we went through the storms."
Looking stunned by the announcement, Rikar glanced
down at her instruments and checked the initial
post-mission report that the COO had provided upon her
return to the ANUBIS. "You didn't mention that anyone
had been injured during the mission, so what
happened?"
Had she been anyone else, the Romulan/Terran would
have exploded with laughter recalling the events in
all of their gruesome details, but being half Romulan
and trained in the field of Intel, the COO just shook
her head. "No one was physically injured, it was just
that the Doctor had a couple of rough rides that have
left him several pounds lighter and has given our CEO
a nasty clean-up job to take care of inside of the
BARRACUDA and one of the secondary consoles are
returned to normal."
Having been made to understand what had happened, the
XO was actually glad that the Romulan/Terran hybrid
had not detailed these events in her report. Thinking
about that particular part of the rescue mission,
Rikar suddenly chuckled thinking about the unenviable
job that David and his staff had unwillingly
inherited. Motioning the COO to her station, the XO
shot a glance at the still closed door of their CO's
office and the Marine still guarding it. "Helm, set
course back for NEW ALEXANDRIA, it's time to go home."
Appearing more than willing and ready to comply with
the order, everyone busied themselves just as Capt.
Simmons and Lt. Onison returned to the bridge.
Looking not at all surprised that the MCO had been
standing guard by his door, the CO gave Prav a simple
task, one that the Marine seemed more than happy to
perform. "Lt. Pravat, please escort Lt. Onison to
Sickbay so that he can be given a complete medical
examination. Once our good Doctor has given him a
clean bill of health, bring him to secured quarters on
Deck 6."
Standing at perfect attention, the Marine gave a
single quick nod of his head and motioned for Luke to
head for the turbolift, Pravat following only a few
steps behind under the close supervision of the
Sec/Tac officer who had not moved from his station.
Waiting for the doors to the turbilift to close, the
CO turned to Rawyvin and gave additional instructions.
"Lt. Seth, please insure that our visitor is under
full time supervision, as long and detailed as his
story was, there is just something that I don't like
about it. So in any case I want his access to the ship
and its systems restricted to a bare minimum until we
reach NEW ALEXANDRIA and Admiral Koneki can take care
of him."
After nodding his understanding, Seth contacted his
best officers and placed them on the job to insure
that Lt. Onison's stay onboard the ANUBIS was an
uneventful one.
Sitting into his chair at the center of the bridge,
the CO smiled as he saw the stars streaking by on the
main view screen indicating that they had already
begun their journey back home. The mission had been a
long and difficult one, so Capt. Simmons had not been
at all disappointed in the both the outcome and that
it was finally all over, or so he hoped. Turning to
look at the XO, the CO asked, "Status report?"
Confirming that nothing had changed since the last
time she had looked down at her instruments, Cmdr.
Rikar gave her report. "All systems are operational,
all departments have reported in, all items and
belongings brought in by Lt. Onison and Ensign Summers
have been quarantined and handed over to the IGC for
examination. The medical reports on the health of our
two newest guests may take a while to come in though,
Lt. Serenna having reported that the CMO had a rough
time with the atmospheric turbulences."
Looking at the stars passing by on the main view
screen, the CO took in a deep breath and let it out
slowly before speaking once more. "Just get us home."
