"Flashback"
[Previous post: 'Going Home']

Stardate: 60298.1835
Setting: Deck 7, Corridor -> Sickbay
The young woman headed down the corridor on Deck 7 on her way to the
ship's main medical facility. James had tried contacting the head of the
medical department, but each time a nurse or some other underling had
stepped in to inform the ANUBIS' CO that the CMO had been indisposed or
simply unavailable. Although a normally patient and understanding man,
Cpt. Simmons had decided to dispatch his ExO to least investigate or at
worst take over the role of the CMO for the medical examination of Lt.
Onison and Ens. Summers.
As she walked into Sickbay, the redheaded woman saw the 2 officers in
question each sitting on a biobed with a member of the medical staff
attending to them. Everything seemed to be in order and under control…
the young woman suspecting that the presence of Marine 2nd Lt. Pravat
right next to Lt. Onison, his pulse riffle firmly in hand.
"Excuse me… where is the Doctor?" Rikar inquired of a nearby medical
technician as she moved in deeper into the large room, her glance in the
direction of the CMO's office not having indicated that anyone had been
there.
"Last time I saw him he was hugging the porcelain like some long lost
lover… we tried to help but we got yelled at, so we decided to leave him
be. I have to admit that I never expected that he would still be there
after all this time." The Technician announced, not at all sounding
sorry for his lack of empathy towards the CMO's condition.
Since the CMO had not been able to perform his duties, and there had
not been a replacement aCMO assigned to the ANUBIS after the departure of
Ens. Summers, the young women decided that if James was going to get
the report he had been waiting for, she would have to do it. In all
honesty though, the ExO was looking forward to performing tasks that she
had not done in ages, her time as a CMO seeming like so many lifetimes
ago.
With Lt. Onison under the care of the Pravat and a nurse, the young
woman decided to focus her attention on the Ensign who truly seemed to be
in a totally different world, her gaze aimlessly poiting nowhere in
particular.
"You seem lost in thoughts Ensign. Care to share?" Sabrina asked with
a smile as she reached for the nearest medical tricorder, not having
the slightest idea of where the Ensign's mind had drifted to.

Stardate: Months ago, when Lea was on NEW ALEXANDRIA
Setting: Section A, Level 2, Observation Platform
(Excerpt from "The Hell We Create" written by Tiffany)
"You seem lost in thoughts Ensign. Care to share?" Sabrina asked with
a smile, not having the slightest idea of the horrific images the
assistant CMO had conjured.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Lea snapped, pushing the woman away with all of her
might. Even though she new the thought was illusionary, Lea could not
shake the feeling that everyone in NEW ALEXANDRIA would in some way be
part of what she had seen. The question had not been a question of
*if* it would happen but rather of *when* the opportunity would present
itself.
Surprised by the assistant CMO's unexpected reaction, Commander Rikar
moved closer once more out of concern for the Ensign thinking that maybe
the stress of the decision they had all been asked to make had proven
to be too much for Lea to handle on her own.
"Lea? What's wrong?" Sabrina asked, placing a hand on the troubled
woman's shoulder. The action had been intended as one of friendship and
support, but to Lea it had been nothing short of an attempt to silence
her fears. Not expecting what followed, the ExO suddenly found herself
on the floor looking up at the enraged Ensign who had used the extended
appendage to send Rikar where she now was.
"You and everyone else on this cursed base are nothing more than
monsters!" Lea screamed kicking the downed woman in the stomach strong enough
to knock the wind from her insuring that Sabrina could not follow.
Reacting without thought, the assistant CMO ran away from the observation
platform and the nightmare she had created for herself.

Stardate: 60298.1837
Setting: Sickbay
Lea looked into the ExO's eyes, unable to place the memory that had
surfaced. The emotions that she recalled were very real, but Lea could
not place or understand them, as if they had been those of another
person.
"Are you OK?" Sabrina asked, running the medical scanner over Lea's
head, "I am detecting elevated activity in your cerebrum cortex."
"I am just having memories," Lea replied. "More like disconnected
flashbacks. I remember this exact Sickbay yet I can't for the life of me
remember when I was here before today. I recognize our Marine friend
over there, but it is more of an impression instead of a memory," the
former Assistant CMO said, pointing to Pravat who had not left Luke's side
since they had left the bridge.
"I'm sure it will all come back to you soon," the ExO said, not ready
to tell Lea about the time she had spent on NEW ALEXANDRIA. As short as
it had been, those few days had been filled with conflicts and Sabrina
thought it safer not to mention the mind wipe that Lea had undergone
before her departure. If Admiral Koneki decided that it was better for
her to be told, someone would do so then. Until that time, Rikar was
happy to leave the past where it had been, behind them and out of their
thoughts. "Aside from the elevated brain activity you seem to be in
reasonable shape. You do look like you have been some rough times though,
so I suggest that you head to your quarters and rest. Heat something
good, take a nice sonic shower and forget about the universe for a
little while."
The idea suggested by Sabrina sounded divine to Lea, but rest had
actually not been all that high of a priority. The former Assistant CMO had
instead wanted to understand these visions that she had been having.
"If it is all the same to you Cmdr I would like to stay here in Sickbay
for a little while longer. I think it will help me make sense of some
of these flashbacks I have been having. Plus while the CMO is
otherwise occupied, I could lend a hand. Like I said I vividly remember having been in this Sickbay, I just can't remember when or exactly why."
Since Sabrina had not wanted to take over the CMO's duties for an
undetermined period of time, the ExO saw no harm in granting Lea's request.
As soon as she completed the medical examination of Lt. Onison he would
be escorted to a secured room and she would be able to return to the
bridge. If Lea wanted to stay behind and try to piece her memories back,
it would be her time wasted, not that of the ExO.
