Stardate: 60299.2004
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Ensign Summer's Quarters

Lea stepped out of the sonic shower feeling rejuvenated and ready for a memorable night. The idea of actually being able to slide into a comfortable bed greatly pleased her. The additional bonus that she would wake up the next morning in that same bed just made the entire thing that much sweeter. The memories of her time in that awful cell still haunted Lea, but being on board the ANUBIS with people like Luke and David made it almost all seemed worth while. That she had been surrounded by fellow shipmates who seemed happy to have her there only made it that much easier.

As Lea pulled the sheets up to her neck she closed her eyes and thought of the way the Oltharian had greeted her. It would take the Assistant CMO a while to get use to that kind of reception and devotion from anyone. That said, her thoughts went to another large and muscular engineer and the breakfast she would share with him in the morning.

Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Admiral Koneki's Office

"You called for me?" Doctor Wallin, the Cairn physician said as he walked into the Admiral's office. Over the last 80 some odd years his people had learned to verbally converse with none telepaths using words, and as strange as the concept had been at first the NEW ALEXANDRIA's CMO had come to enjoy this clumsy method of communication.

"Yes Doctor… I have a possible situation and require your assistance." The Admiral explained inviting the Commander to follow him to the conference area of his office where the image of a sleeping woman had been displayed on the main screen.

"Ah, Ensign Lea Summers… Human female… 28 Terran years of age… born on ALTAIR IV… she has vivid memories of growing up in a modest house and travelling with her parents to archaeological sites." The base's CMO announced as he leaned in closer to the large screen as if this would allow him to reach into the woman's mind with his own.

"So I gather you know her." Koneki offered in a rather sarcastic tone, his initial suspensions as to the cause of the Ensign's uncharacteristic behaviour earlier in his office having been all but completely confirmed.

"Of course… she underwent a standard memory reassignment and attitude modification on stardate 60149.1835… as I recall you had specified that she become more submissive when dealing with Starfleet personnel. I clearly remember imprinting in her mind the images that would trigger a more receptive response to anyone in a Starfleet uniform and to you in particular." The Cairn Doctor admitted without remorse, as if the task he had accomplished back then had been completely normal.

"Good… now explain to me why Ensign Summers walked into my office earlier today and acted like this?" The Admiral demanded as he reached for a set of controls on the conference table that changed the image on the large view screen from the live image of the sleeping aCMO to a visual playback of the Admiral's own office focussed on the same woman.

Lea huffed, "Tell that to the psycho who came and got him."

"What *psycho* would that be Ensign?" The Admiral returned.

"Commander Vasquez. She's rude, crass..." The aCMO explained in a somewhat defiant tome

"And following orders from her CO. She informed me that Lieutenant Dawson has been ignoring their summons so I told her to do what she needed to get him on the station." The Admiral explained, the expression on his face clearly indicating that he had not expected this sort of tone to have come from the Ensign.

"With armed security officers?!" Lea protested as Sabrina raised her hand to silence her.

Immediately after stopping the playback, the Admiral returned his attention to the NEW ALEXANDRIA's CMO who seemed most perplexed by the display of anger and lack of submission displayed by the Ensign.

"That is most interesting… she should not have reacted this way… especially not to you." The physician announced as he turned away from the view screen to look at the base's CO.

"So you are telling me that you have no idea as to why her reprogramming failed?" The Admiral inquired, not at all liking the idea that the reprogramming procedure had been so unsuccessful.

"I cannot say at this time… but I can assure you that the reprogramming is not at fault. There must have been some external force at play during that time." Doctor Wallin said in his own defence all too aware of the Admiral's disdain for failure and incompetence.

"Alright… you have 6 hours to find out what happened. Dismissed!"

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Ensign Summer's Quarters

Using the access codes provided to him by Cmdr. Du'Kim, Doctor Wallin had gained access to not only the ANUBIS but to the quarters of the Ensign who had upset the Admiral in such a way. The easy part had been to get here leaving the Cairn with the more complex task of finding out what or who had interfered with the woman's mental reprogramming.

Setting: Dreamscape

Lea strolled through the tall grass, her bare feet covered with the fresh morning dew. The blue sky overhead seemed to stretch on forever. Lea left happy, without a care in the world, and unaware of another presence in this make-believe world she had created.

The tall grass turned into cold stones like the ones that had covered the floor of her cell. The soft blue sky became red, burning Lea's exposed flesh. In only a few seconds the peaceful dream had turned into a nightmare that the Assistant CMO could not escape from.

Like a moving being shown on fast-forward, Lea was made to relive all of the ordeals she had endured during her captivity. She could not understand why this was happening but Lea was helpless to do anything about it. From her capture to her imprisonment to her encountering Luke and their escape, Lea experienced it all over again. The nightmare came to an end when the images around her froze and she found herself back in Sickbay. Luke was leaning over the biobed frozen in time but Lea tried to approach him she felt an intense pain shoot through her head.

When Lea reopened her eyes she found herself in a new place, surrounded by complete darkness. After a few second a single bright spotlight appeared on Lea blinding her. Lea could neither move nor scream for help as she had wanted to do. All that the Assistant CMO could do was to wait and see what would happen next. Good or bad Lea would not have to wait long; the light giving way and letting her see that the darkness had been replaced by the office of Admiral Koneki.

Lea tried to approach the man sitting behind the desk but when she did the shooting pain in her head returned. The pain had been so intense that Lea dropped to her knees clenching her head in her hands. Through the pain she opened her eyes and say an alien man dressed in the uniform of a CMO, his hand extended towards her.

Lea bolted out of her bed screaming certain that she would find something or someone in the room with her. In an instant the Assistant CMO had jumped out of bed and searched her room, the feeling that someone had been there still haunting her.

After a frantic search that revealed nothing, Lea sat on her bed and cried her eyes out. The nightmare that she had just woken up from would be one that she would not be able to forget anytime soon.
