Stardate: 60313.1645
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Deck 7, Draxx Quartares
The young woman sat on the couch… the PADD she had received from James in her hands, and a cup of hot chocolate resting on the table next to her bare feet. Talia had found something to amuse herself in her room, an arrangement that had pleased the young woman as it gave her the time to more carefully read the cover story of the person she would have to become for their next mission.
Sabrina had just been ready to reach for the cup when the door chime rang and announced the presence of someone at the door. Although she knew it to be far too early for her life-mate's return, the young woman still felt a wave of excitement at the possibility… a feeling that enabled the redheaded woman to leap over the table and arrive at the door in a single bound.
"Ca… Captain… I mean James… this is unexpected… is everything alright?" The young woman offered after she opened the door and realised to her great disappointment that the person on the other side of the door had not been Enaii.
"Just came to talk to you about your assignment." The CO offered as he forced his way into the quarters while not taking any offence to the obvious disappointment that had engraved itself on the young woman's features.
"My assignment? What's wrong with it?" Sabrina queried as she returned to the couch while inviting the CO to sit in the chair that stood on the other side of the living room table.
"Nothing… other than you haven't said anything about it to me. I was sure that you would have been one of the first to voice some sort of complaint… or at least an official and off the record comment." James said through a half grin as he sat down, hoping that what little Clora had taught him about counselling would not fail him.
"Spoke with Serenna about her assignment earlier today… and after reviewing what I said it became evident that Admiral Koneki must have figure me to be best suited for this particular role… and honestly I want to look at it as a compliment instead of an insult." The young woman calmly offered as a gentle, yet slightly devious smile slid over her pink lips.
"Siltrish Brakas… the youngest of 7 daughters of an Orion business man suspected to have links to the Orion slave trade as well as the Orion Syndicate." James offered as he recalled from memory the first part of his ExO's assignment.
"Wild, flirtatious, likes to be the centre of attention, rebellious against most types of authorities *and* apparently very adventurous in all things… so much so that she left home a few months ago, stowed away on a freighter and has not been heard from since by her father, mother or any of her sisters. I took the liberty of calling up the pictures that we have on file and I am flattered to think that someone somewhere thinks that I am able to pass as her because she is by any and all standards a very attractive woman with attributes that would be hard to duplicate for most." Sabrina countered with, honouring what she had said to James before about taking the assignment as a compliment instead of an insult.
"Hence why I was expecting you to come to me and say *something*… but I guess I was expecting a fight where there would not be any." James offered in return sounding somewhat relieved that his ExO had apparently accepted the risqué role without any resentment.
"You catch more flies with honey… but I do have 1 concern in taking on this role… that Siltrish was last reported to be inside a private resort on RISA and that there is little to keep her from being seen by others… and left face it she is not the type of woman that can vanish into a crowd without anyone noticing." Rikar offered as she once again glanced at the pictures of her would be alter ego for their next mission.
"According to what I have been told… several agents have been dispatched to keep Miss Brakas occupied for the complete duration of our mission. Their orders are to keep her busy enough so that she will not be seen by anyone including the resort staff." James said in a reassuring tone as he finally leaned back in the seat that he had taken.
"Lucky guys… they might not want to end their assignment once we are done." The young woman offered as the devious smile on her pink lips grew to such a size that James could no longer pretend that it had not been there.
"Like I said… Any concerns about you having had any problems with your assignment seem to have been unfounded… so I will let you get back to your preparations. By the way, how is Talia doing?" James inquired as he stood from the chair, ready to excuse himself from the quarters that he had entered under the assumption that he would have to deal with a possibly irate ExO.
"She's fine… but she misses her mother… we both do." Sabrina offered as the smile that had been present on her lips suddenly vanished into the realm of non-existence.
"She'll be back very soon." The CO said with a reassuring smile before he turned around and left thinking it best that he leave instead of trying to further comfort the woman and her adoptive daughter as such efforts might prove to make matters worse instead of better.
