Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section D, Level 8, Observation Deck
Thinking of their upcoming mission and the discussion
she had with David, the Romulan/Terran hybrid stood on
the observation deck of the base staring at the ANUBIS
as if looking at a ship that she had never before
seen. The role that the COO had been requested to
play in this undercover operation demanded that she
place herself in the shoes of someone she had learned
to despise over the years. Looking at the partial
reflection of her own image on the transparent glass
that stood between the Romulan/Terran hybrid and the
void of the docking area, the COO could easily see a
Romulan Tal'Shiar operative looking back at her, and
that worried her.
Trying to imagine the train of thought that had led
those responsible for the assignments, the COO could
understand why she had been selected for this role.
Looking only at the extensive amount of work and
research she had conducted on the methods and
techniques used by the Romulan Intel Agency, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid had been a logical choice. When
taking into consideration the heritage and appearance
of the COO, this made the decision to assign her to
that role that much more rational, requiring her to
undergo only minor aesthetic changes to become this
new person.
Looking like a Romulan and acting like one would be a
completely different affair though, and elevating this
masquerade to portraying an operative of the Tal'Shiar
would prove to be an even more daunting challenge.
Thinking back to the reasoning behind the decision,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid had to conclude that Adm.
Koneki had in one way or another supported this
decision, if he had not made it himself, likely
believing that the COO could pull it off.
Narrowing her eyes while looking at the Scarab-Class
ship docked several levels below, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid embraced the idea of her new role and began the
lengthy process of thinking like a Tal'Shiar
operative.

Heading back to the ship, the Romulan/Terran hybrid
encountered the MCO, the Enaran appearing to be in a
rather urgent rush to get to wherever he was going.
As a Starfleet officer and the ANUBIS' COO, she would
have normally stepped out of the man's way and
wondered as to the cause for this urgency at a later
time, but thinking as a Tal'Shiar Operative meant that
she now reacted to situations following a different
set of rules. Standing firm in the middle of the
narrow corridor Serenna raised her right hand and
commanded, "HALT!"
Not at all having expected this sort of reaction for
the ship's COO, the Enaran almost toppled over as he
came to a sudden stop, inches away from colliding with
the Romulan/Terran hybrid. Standing in front of the
woman, Pravat was ready to ask as to why he had been
stopped as he was, but just as he had been ready to
speak he noticed something in the hybrid's eyes,
something that had always been there but never to such
intensity.
Realizing that something had changed in the way the
Romulan/Terran hybrid behaved, the MCO snapped to
attention, "Apologies Lieutenant. I needed to return
to the base and thought that I could use the trip for
some unscheduled exercise."
Looking at the Enaran man through narrowed eyes, the
Romluman/Terran hybrid approached until only the
warmth of their breaths stood between them. Speaking
with a coldness that was uncharacteristic of even her,
the COO instructed the MCO as to what she wanted him
to do. "Step aside."
Taking a large step backwards and sideways, the
Eneran removed himself from the path of the
Romulan/Terran hybrid all along wondering about why
the COO had reacted in such a drastically different
way. With the MCO standing to the side, the ANUBIS'
Ops officer resumed her course leaving Pravat with
several unanswered questions.
Glancing over her shoulder after a few moments to see
the Marine heading to the base at a much slower pace
than he had been, the Romulan/Terran hybrid realized
how easy it had been for her to embrace the concept of
rank as dictated by the Romulan military. Within
Starfleet, officers respected one another on many
levels and in many ways including the displaying of a
certain amount of compassion from higher ranking
officers to their subordinates. Acting in such a way
towards a lower ranking officer was unforgivable
within the ranks of the Romulan military and even more
strictly enforced inside the confines of the
Tal'Shiar.
Thinking as a Starfleet officer for a few moments,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid made a mental note to
apologies to Pravat, suspecting that by the time the
mission would actually begin, the two of them might
have a few more similar runs if she continued
immersing herself in her new role.
