Stardate: 60319.1000
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Using the numerous resources of the Scarab-Class ship
available to her, the Romulan/Terran hybrid followed
with ease the XO as she approached the 'Black Hole
Lounge' and the man the two of them had spoken about
only minutes prior. Not having revealed any real
details about why the XO had required that a
transporter lock be kept on both her and the CEO, the
COO could easily imagine that the engineer had once
again found a way to be at the center of some
controversy or problem. Keeping a transporter lock on
Dawson and Rikar was only a preventive measure meant
to limit and possibly avoid personal damages and
injuries, but the request made by the XO was causing
the Ops officer to wonder.
Observing the posture of the CEO through her
monitoring, the COO could see that something was
different about David. Over the years they had spent
together at the Academy, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had
learned to read to large man, something that had been
for the most part easy since David had never been one
to hide his emotions. Displaying anger and
frustration as easily as he did any other feelings
made Dawson an easy person to figure out, which of
course only meant that right now something was not
right.
Looking at the way David sat alone in a corner of the
room meant that he wanted to be alone, but the
expression on his face and the lack of clench fists
were pointing to a reason other than anger which of
course made the Romulan/Terran hybrid re-evaluate the
possible causes of the XO's request and unwillingness
to divulge any real information.
Having figured that the operation would be controlled
from the bridge, Ens. Mei had decided to go there and
see first hand how things were going. Knowing how the
talk between Cmdr. Rikar and Lt. Dawson went would
only aid her be more effective in helping the ex-CEO
in overcoming the pain and void that he surely felt
growing within his soul.
Stepping onto the bridge and seeing a Romulan in full
uniform sitting at the Ops station of the ship had
been quite a shock to the Cns who had actually needed
a few moments to overcome the surprise. Seeing the
Romulan/Terran hybrid walking about the ship
portraying her new identity had been one thing, but to
see her sitting on the bridge as Sevaal had been
unexpected for the ensign.
Quietly walking closer, the Cns turned to the CO who
was sitting in his chair and who seemed to be as
interested in the outcome of this operation as
everyone else if not more so. Keeping her voice to a
soft whisper, the now Bajoran looking woman asked,
"How is it going?"
Reporting the progress of the operation although the
question had clearly not been directed to her, the COO
gave to Ens. Mei even more proof that the
transformation the Romulan/Terran hybrid had been
involved in for the upcoming mission was complete.
"Target is immobile, estimated contact in 45 seconds.
Transporter locks are active and ready."
Listening to the coldness and directness of the COO's
voice made Ens. Mei suspect that the Romulan/Terran
hybrid had spoken to the ship's ILO and that whatever
questions she might have had about the details of her
new role had been answered to her satisfaction.
Observing the Ops officer a little more, the Cns could
barely see any hints of the woman who held the rank of
Lt, instead seeing what appeared to be a genuine
Romulan Tal'Shiar agent busy with an Intel operation.
Not knowing the extent of the discussion the ILO and
COO had shared the day before made the Cns wonder as
to what exactly had been said to bring about such a
complete change in the Romulan/Terran hybrid. Looking
back at the progress made by the Ops officer before
the meeting with Enaii showed that Serenna would have
eventually been able to accomplish this transformation
on her own. Sharing a bound that likely extended
beyond the love for Intel, the two of them had found a
way to speed up this process allowing for the full
persona of Sevaal to take hold.
Taking a single step forward, Ens. Mei was stopped by
the CO who reached out and took hold of her arm.
Understanding the professional curiosity that the Cns
had for both the CEO and COO, Cpt. Simmons had thought
it best for the woman to leave it be for the time
being. As disturbing as he might have found the
transformation of his Ops officer to be, the CO knew
better than to allow curiosity to take control. Right
now their primary objective had to be Dawson,
everything else being secondary and unimportant at
this very moment.
Stepping back to where she had started, the Cns
watched from afar as the Romulan/Terran hybrid
continued her monitoring of the XO's approach hoping
that the precautions taken would not have to be used.
