Setting: TANGIERS ORBITAL, Corridor -> Room
The young woman looked in awe as the team of security personnel led by 'Big Ed' stormed into the room following the door being so effortlessly opened by the owner of the Casino, Sam… obviously Enaii had learned some of her tricks from that man, but now was certainly not the time to inquire as to which.
Visibly trained to deal with similar situations with both speed and efficiency, the dozen of men Ed had brought along entered the room one after the other in a well orchestrated ballet that made the ExO instantly know that they had enlisted the assistance of experts in their respective field.
Within a few seconds the corridor had been emptied of those who had followed Big Ed, Enaii and Sabrina, all of them having vanished inside where the fun immediately began.
By the time Enaii and Sabrina stepped into the room, the 2 women found the security force with their hands full… 4 taking care of what appeared to be 2 Romulan soldiers, 3 taking care of a less than happy Cardassian, 2 who had vanished into the adjacent room leaving the remaining 3 to handle as best they could the giant that they had found.
"Stun him!" Ed ordered as he watched the large muscular men giving his people more trouble than he was worth, but before the security guards could act on the order they had received, the young woman stepped forward.
"No… Wait! He's one of ours." Rikar announced as she moved to place herself in David's field of vision with the hopes that this would make him stop fighting. To the ExO's immeasurable relief, the ANUBIS' CEO called back his latest strike just as it was about to peel the emerald colour off the woman's features.
"What is going on here?!" The bounty hunter known as Kreedar Brell who in reality had been none other than Lt. David Dawson of the USS ANUBIS demanded as he glared at anything and everything within his line of sight.
"Damage control…" Enaii dryly announced as she moved past the towering man without as much as glancing in his direction. The mission had been too compromised to be salvaged and as per the authorities invested in her through her rank of Level 5 Field Operative, the Intel Operative had brought an end to the mission in the most effective and least damaging way available to her.
"Where are T'Preel and Zulot?" The ExO inquired, thinking it best to have David focus on something other than Enaii for the immediate time. Rikar had to take a hold of the CEO's arm and pull his attention onto her to insure that he would answer the question she had asked instead of unleashing some sort of discontented verbal volley at the ILO as she walked past him and into the other room where Ensign Summers laid sleeping.
"Last time I saw them they were heading into that room." David replied with a gesture of his head before he snapped his arms free from the grasp of the 2 casino security personnel who had thought it safer to keep the massive man restrained for the time being.
Being the senior most officer present and having learned long ago from her life-mate that any sort of hesitation could prove costly, the young woman asked for 2 of the security personnel to accompany her as she went to investigate. Free from his earlier trouble, the CEO decided to tag along… his reasons for doing so not having been what they should have been. As a Starfleet officer, Dawson should have been there to offer support to his superior but given the unique specifics of this situation the CEO had wanted to be there when the 2 fugitives would be found so that he could execute his revenge. After all… those men had been responsible for the death of his brother… and that had been all the reasons he needed to pursue them until the edge of the universe.
The young woman carefully entered the room in a delicate balance of stealth and quickness which proved to have been for nothing since the room was empty. As the 2 security personnel secured the room, Sabrina stood in the middle looking around to see if any clues as to the men's whereabouts could be found. The ExO soon found her attention fall on a strange piece of equipment that had been set against 1 of the walls of the room.
"David… what is that?" The young woman inquired, her knowledge of Engineering making it beyond the reach of anyone's imagination that she would be able to come up with even the most farfetched of explanation for the odd-looking contraption.
Still fuming from what had happened and the fact that this had lead to the unexplained disappearance of the 2 *monsters* responsible for the death of his brother, David growled below his breath as he examined the 2 semi-circles set roughly a meter apart from one another.
"Phase-inducer coils… micro-cellular calibrators… miniature sub-space field generator…" The Enginer began to list leaving the ExO rolling her eyes as she understood nothing of what had been said or implied by the list of increasingly lengthy equipment.
"David… I admired your knowledge of engineering… but would you mind translating all that into something that I *might* remotely understand?"
"It's a short range sub-space phase inverter meant to allow one solid to pass through another." The CEO explained in lament's terms, still finding it hard to believe that the woman who had become the ExO of the ANUBIS knew so little about anything and everything dealing with Engineering.
"In other words… that things was meant for 1 purpose and 1 purpose only… to provide a way out to T'Preel and Zulot in case of trouble."
==========
At first the half Human, half Romulan woman normally in charge of the ANUBIS' Operations department had wanted to go in after the group that had entered the room to offer whatever assistance she and Maya could provide… but trying to explain this course of action to Guntiz would have been nearly impossible so the COO had opted to remain where they where… at least for the time being.
That decision proved to be a blessing and curse all at the same time, giving the 3 of them the opportunity to witness the seemingly miraculous exit of the Romulan and Cardassian who had been the cause of the alteration of their initial mission parameters. The curse part of this event came in the form of Zulot and T'Preel ploughing through the 3 bystanders with the force of a quantum torpedo set on overload. By the time Serenna and Maya could even guess as to what had happened, they had been both sent flying onto the corridor's floor… disoriented and unable to react in time to stop the 2 men's rushed exit.
Since Guntiz had apparently drawn the lucky end of this encounter which had permitted him to stand mostly standing, the Dralian quickly moved in to help the 2 woman return to their feet. After having helped his Vulcan companion to her feet, still unaware that she was in reality none other than Lt. Cmdr. Serenna of the USS ANUBIS, Guntiz turned his attention to whom he believed to be a Cardassian friend of T'Pring. To his horror he found a creature that looked nothing like a Cardassian… although some of the ridges had been present on her chin and neck, the facial features were nothing as he had seen them before. Just as he went to ask as to what had happened, Guntiz was violently pulled back by a single, powerful hand.
"Who are you and what have you done?" The CEO demanded in a tone of voice that echoed far more his persona of Kreedar Brell than his everyday identify of David Dawson.
Seeing only the bounty hunter and nothing else, the Dralian fell stricken with fear which resulted in his being unable to hold back 1 of his most basic biological functions. As the smell and sound of the alien's fluid became known to the engineer, he released his grip just long enough to allow Guntiz to scramble away on all fours as fast as his hands and feet could carry him.
"Wow… you really scared the…" The young woman chuckled before being interrupted by the engineer himself.
"Don't say it!" David countered as he turned around and reached to help the CSciO back to her feet, noticing as he did so what the Dralian had.
"Are you feeling alright? You are losing your Cardassian features." The young woman pointed out in clearly concerned manner, worried that whatever had happened had caused the Shillian to suffer some sort of cellular damage that had caused her to revert to her natural state. Rikar might have been null in engineering, but the medical field held no secrets to the former Chief Medical Oficer.
"It was T'Preel and Zulot… they came out of nowhere and pushed out of the way as if the evil himself had been after them. We had no time to react and by the time we saw them it was already too late." The Ops officer explained not at all sounding happy about what had happened.
David growled to himself, the definition given by his Academy classmate not having all that far from the truth as evil itself would have likely given way to the rage the engineer fostered for those 2 monsters.
"Report!" Enaii demanded as she emerged from the room, followed by a couple of security personnel helping Susan and Lea out, both of them looking a little shaken.
"Zulot and T'Preel escaped… passing through that wall gave them the advantage they needed… we need to go after them." The CEO offered obviously more than ready to rip the entire TANGIERS ORBITAL into small pieces in order to locate the 2 men who had just made their exit.
"Negative… this mission is as of right now *over*. We have Ensign Lea… the rest is secondary and inconsequential." The ILO explained sternly, not at all pleased with the way this simple Intel gathering mission had turned out.
David appeared more than ready to challenge Enaii on her decision but the looks that he received from Sabrina, Susan and even Lea made him reconsider. Before the massive engineer could say anything, the ILO continued, this time updating everyone's orders.
"Serenna… contact the ANUBIS and have them stand ready for departure as soon as we return… then help David take Susan, Lea and Maya to the transport shuttle. Sabrina and I will go an find Pravat and the captain to inform them of our immediate departure." Enaii announced as she turned away and left the rest of the group to comply with her orders without even waiting for either Serenna or David to confirm.
The expression on the features of the CEO spoke volumes… he was not happy about them leaving instead of going after the mosters who had killed Jordan… but in all honesty there had been little left for him to do. As much as he wanted revenge, David knew that he would likely never be able to accomplish his goal alone… so he would have to wait. T'Preel and Zulot had successfully made their exit… but that would not save them from one day paying for what they had done… and the CEO would make sure to that.
