Setting: USS ANUBIS, Umbilical Connection
Stardate: 60322.2225
Time: Right after Jessica's post

Eva looked around as she watched the Lt. Cmdr. go dashing off. She hoped that Lt. Cmdr. Maya had gone off to stop the experiments, or at least register some objection to them. At least that's what the Ensign had hoped when she got the terror off the other woman.

Turning around Eva saw what could be the largest humanoid she'd ever seen. She was 5'6" and this man towered over her by more than a foot. Glancing up she amended that – make that 2 feet.

"Ensign," the man nodded down towards her, his voice so soft Eva had to strain to hear it, "I apologize but I overheard you saying you needed to report to Lt. Cmdr. Rikar. If you follow the umbilical connection to the end and make a right and take the 2nd turbolift to the Bridge, you will find her."

Dear gods, Eva realized, the man could put his hand on her head, twist it until her neck snapped, all before she could move. Nodding mutely the Edo/Betazoid bobbled her head trying to keep things as calm as possible.

The Oltharian nodded and wondered why the Ensign was mute, with her gray eyes widening beyond their normal wide state until they were the size of arva nodes. Then he realized it might be because she didn't know who he was. "My apologies, I am Lieutenant Junior Grade Elan Fairborn," he said as he offered a hand.

Swallowing the lump in her throat the Assistant Chief of Security nodded. "Ensign Doratheva," she replied. Deciding to conquer her fear of this person, she shook his hand. And while his hand was double hers in size, she realized something. It was soft, firm and slightly scarred but given the blue he wore, Eva figured that par for the course in Engineering. He was strong, she could tell that, but something about the way he moved seemed to indicate that he used that as a secondary resource, not a primary one.

This man wasn't a fighter, she thought to herself. She had no clue why that would be, but he wasn't. Everything she could gather about him – from the way he shook her hand to the sincerity in his voice – indicated that he was a peaceful soul. She could be wrong, of course, but that was her gut feeling.

It made no sense, the Ensign thought. But she could either question this man or she could go report for duty and figure out the mystery of the Engineer later. "Thank you Lieutenant. I should be on my way."

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Stardate: 60322.2240

She had been on bridges before. The KITTY HAWK, when it was docked. And at school of course, during training exercises.

But there was *something* about walking on to a ship's bridge and knowing that this would be your first assignment. That Eva, thought to herself, was something else. Walking onto the Bridge

A redheaded woman came up behind her and smiled at the Ensign's awe. "It's something isn't it?"

Eva spun around and saw the pips on the collar, not to mention its red collar, and took a stab at who it might be. Bringing herself to attention, she said. "Ensign Doratheva, reporting for duty Commander Rikar."

The Executive Officer considered the Ensign as she waved her down. Considering her Sabrina mused, "You're our new Assistant Chief of Security?"

Eva nodded and pulled out her orders, handing them over. She watched the Commander glance down over the orders. She expected a hundred different questions – things ranging to her specializations in Security (she had none – she chose to focus on all the forms rather than specialize in one), to her desire to join Intel (that was a bit more nebulous to explain but she could probably wing an answer to that), to even her impressions of the ship.

"Are you hungry?"

That question – it was safe to say, she wasn't expecting.

Sabrina enjoyed watching the Edo/Betazoid mentally shift gears. It spoke a lot about a person to see how they could handle quick changes. The type of work that the ANUBIS did, it required of course the typical training, but often out in the field, whether you lived or died, whether you did the job well or poorly, that depended on whether you could think on your feet – and do so quickly.

"That depends," Eva answered honestly.

Intrigued the Executive Officer tilted her head to the side and inquired, "On what?"

"Would I be allowed to pick what I want to eat? Or are you also going to assume what I'm eating?"

Sabrina blinked at the answer and then it dawned on her. Eva must have met Allyson or Amey, or both. Laughing she said, "No, you can pick your own food here."

The Ensign sighed in relief at that, "Then yes, at some point food would be good. But it doesn't have to be now."

"Good," Sabrina nodded. "Let's get you settled first. Do you mind if I call you Doratheva?"

The Ensign shrugged. "You can, but most just call me Eva."

"Alright Eva, follow me and we'll fill out some necessary paperwork and get you settled."
