Setting: USS ANUBIS, Serenna's Quarters
Sitting at her desk looking at the banner of the
Romulan Intel Agency hanging on the wall in front of
her, the Romulan/Terran hybrid wondered as to what the
future held in store for her and the rest of the crew
of the mighty ANUBIS. Thinking back to their last
mission, the COO could only imagine how the meeting
between Cpt. Simmons and Admiral Koneki had unfolded,
the Admiral not known for accepting anything less than
perfection from those serving under him.
Knowing the Captain as she did, and what little she
could figure of the Admiral, the COO pictured that the
two men had been quick to lay down their cards on the
table and ascertain that the decision made by the ILO
to call off the mission had been for the best.
Placing T'Preel and Zulot in a position where they
would have to defend themselves and even possibly
retaliate against any number of attackers could have
endangered countless civilian lives. Protecting the
innocent was part of the task taken on by all those
who worked under the banner of the NEW ALEXANDRIA
base, and that had been exactly what they had done.
Making David see and understand this though had proven
to be more difficult than the mission itself, not that
the Romulan/Terran hybrid blamed the CEO for his
stubbornness in that regard.
Thinking that she had lost more than enough time
aimlessly contemplating things that she could not
change, the Romulan/Terran hybrid decided on a change
of scenery, clear that she would not be able to rest
however hard she might try to.

Stepping into the inactive holodeck, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid smiled to herself thinking that
there were distinct advantages to being the COO of a
ship such as the ANUBIS. Having access to the
hardware having been only one aspect of these
benefits, the others including access to a wide range
of classified programs that the Ops officer had now
been thinking about using.
Training had always been a high priority for the
former Sec/Tac officer, an activity that the
Romulan/Terran hybrid enjoyed unleashing without
warning on her security staff so as to keep them ready
and on their toes. As the COO, this type of training
had been all but forgotten, an oversight that the Ops
officer had every intentions of correcting at this
time.
Moving into the center of the holo-grid, the COO
began to instruct the computer as to the parameters of
the program she had wanted to take part in. Listing
all of the details she wanted included, the Ops
Officer created a venue almost identical to the casino
that the crew had left behind not so long ago.
Reaching for the phaser that she had brought with her
into the holodeck, the Romulan/Terran hybrid gave the
scene frozen in time one last look, comparing the
computer's creation to her memory. "Computer,
initiate program and have opponent resistance set to
medium level as based on all information available
through the reports made on them. Let's see if this
was as bad as we thought."
Processing the request, the computer took a few
moments to bestow upon the inanimate recreation of
T'Preel, Zulot and their cohorts a semblance of
consciousness that matched, as best as could be
expected, the real thing.

Following an hour of training, or at least that would
be the story that the COO would abide to; the
Romluan/Terran hybrid had stepped out of the holodeck
and ventured into the 'Black Hole' Lounge seeking
refreshment. Looking back at the numerous training
programs that she had taken part in before, the Ops
Officer had been surprised at just how demanding her
latest creation had been, thinking that maybe running
the program 20 times, the last 5 at the heist possible
difficulty rating, might have been a little excessive.
After having ordered a glass of Andorian Sparkling
water from the bar, the Romulan/Terran hybrid noticed
the ANUBIS' XO sitting at one of the tables with an
unknown woman. By itself the sight was not a source
of concern but having been unable to recognize the
other person sitting with the Commander immediately
triggered the COO's instincts. Knowing the crew, all
of them, was an integral part of the duties of an Ops
officer and Serenna had every intentions of filling
the blanks created by the presence of the unknown
figure.
Approaching the two sitting women, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid was greeted by a smiling XO who seemed more
than pleased by the COO's arrival. "Lt. Cmdr.
Serenna, please join us and allow me to introduce you
to Ens. Doratheva, or Eva for short. She will be our
new Assistant Chief of Security."
Understanding why she had not recognized the other
woman, the COO sat down and joined the pair, looking
forward to meeting their new Sec/Tac officer even
before having the chance to review her personnel file.
Seeing that the COO was joining them, the XO
completed the introductions. "Eva, please allow me to
introduce to you Lt. Cmdr. Serenna, our Ops officer
and former Sec/Tac, so I can only guess that you two
will have a great deal to talk about."
Looking almost relieved that the COO had not been as
imposing as the Oltharian or as talkative as the
CSciO, Eva welcomed the new arrival at their table
with a nod, "It is a pleasure to meet you Cmdr.
Serenna, Cmdr. Rikar was just telling me about some of
the unique features of the ANUBIS and what I can
expect to face during our missions."
Glancing over at the red headed woman as if wondering
what exactly she had said to the Ensign, the XO just
grinned as only she could before clarifying the
discussion. "I merely gave our new Sec/Tac officer a
heads up as to the general *type* of missions that we
might be called upon to complete as Intel is mostly a
set of unknowns and unexpected problems."
Debating for a moment as to the need to have the
ASec/Tac present for what she was about to say, the
COO decided that this would be as good of a time to
introduce the Ensign to the unknowns and unexpected
problems the XO had spoken of. "Cmdr. Rikar, I took
the liberty of exploring the variable of the last
situation encountered on the TANGIERS ORBITAL, and
what I found may interest you."
Hearing the name of the famed casino made Eva's ears
perked, making her believe that life onboard an Intel
ship might prove to be more interesting that she might
had first imagined. Seeing the peeked interest in
their new officer, the XO grinned thinking that
reality would settle in soon enough. Looking back at
the COO, Cmdr. Rikar asked, "What did you discover?"
Handing over a PADD containing the results of her
training exercise, the COO gave a rapid overview of
its content. "I realize that these are only
probabilities, but it seems that we were lucky. Out
of 20 scenarios, 14 ended with one or more casualties,
some of which were members of our own team. One
particular scenario ended with the TANGIERS ORBITAL
suffering from a massive internal explosion which
killed hundreds."
Looking a little stunned by the report, the XO looked
down at the PADD without actually reading the
information displayed on it, and handed it over to the
Sec/Tac officer who seemed curious about the details
of this conversation. Reading the parameters and
results of the holodeck training scenarios, Ens.
Doratheva amended her earlier idea of how much *fun*
life on an Intel ship might prove to be.
Exchanging several unspoken words, the XO and COO
appeared more than convinced that the ILO had done the
right thing in calling off the mission when she had,
even if it had meant the escape of the two men
responsible for the destruction of the MERCURY
