Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
The young woman cautiously stepped onto the bridge of the ANUBIS looking as if she had been hit by the proverbial starship… the gaze of the redheaded woman lost well beyond the confines of the room or even the ship that contained it. Rikar had just been made to go through a whirlwind from which she could still feel somewhat dizzy about. A great many things had happened in the last few hours… and a great many more would take place in the 2 hours to come.
"Cmdr. Rikar… are you alright?" The Shillian CSciO inquired from her station at the back of the bridge having noticed that the ExO had not moved from the spot she had stopped on. Instead of offering any sort of reply, Rikar turned around just as Commodore Simmons followed her on the bridge, the former CO of the ANUBIS having already traded in his uniform for the one usually dawned by those of admiralty rank.
Understandably… the initial reaction had been one of complete surprise, but that soon changed when the new Sec/Tac officer called everyone to attention, responding more to the look of the uniform than the man wearing it.
"Admiral on the bridge!" Eva announced with a commanding tone that far surpassed her rank, but everyone reacted accordingly, jumping to their feet and to full attention while facing the high-ranking man.
"At ease." James ordered with a gentle smile, meeting the looks of surprise and bewilderment with one of seriousness that only hinted to what had transpired and what he had come here to do.
"Captain… I mean Commodore… what's going on?" The ANUBIS' 2nd officer and Ops officer inquired, the expression of puzzlement looking truly out of place on the features of the half Human, half Romulan woman.
"Computer… give me a ship-wide channel." James commanded, knowing all too well that time was of the essence.
=/\= Ship-wide channel opened. =/\= The computer replied, unaffected by the scene that had taken place on the command deck of the ship, and unaware of just how much of an impact his announcement would have on the rest of the crew.
"Attention all hands…" James began as he allowed a faint smile to grace his lips for a brief moment as he looked at the officers around him, and thinking of those who would be hearing his voice throughout she ship.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, CMO's Office
=/\= … for those of you who have not yet heard, Admiral Koneki has given me an opportunity that I could not refuse and has made me the new SOO for the NEW ALEXANDRIA. This of course means that I have to sadly step down as the ANUBIS' CO, a position that I am glad to announce will be taken over by *Captain* Sabrina Rikar. =/\=
The CMO looked positively stunned by the announcement, glad that she had been sitting down thus avoiding her from falling over backwards due to the unexpectedness of the new.
The attention of Ens. Summers was momentarily diverted when the ship's Cns stormed into the CMO's office after having heard the same announcement, the 2 women keeping their comments to themselves for the time being as Simmons continued.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Holodeck 3
=/\= It is with a certain amount of sadness and sorrow that I have accepted this change of duties and promotion to the rank of Commodore, but I did so knowing that the ANUBIS would be in good hands and that her crew, veterans and new arrivals alike, are part of the best crew in Starfleet and that it was truly an honour to serve with you all. =/\=
The Enaran Marine listened to the announcement as did the rest of his troops, their training simulation having been interrupted by the computer's override. At first Pravat had been a little upset at the unexpected interruption, but not the Enaran could only feel sadness at the idea that the Captain of the ANUBIS would no longer be there as he had grown accustomed to.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, IGC
=/\= Effective immediately, Commander Rikar is taking command of the ANUBIS as its new Captain. I am sorry that this promotion cannot be celebrated as it should, but you have been assigned to an important mission, one that I will leave to your new CO to explain to you all. May the stars keep you all safe and light your way home safe and sound. Simmons out. =/\=
Enaii sat at her desk, a barely visible smile gracing her lips. The announcement had not been a surprise, which had enabled the ILO to hide her joy for her life mate who had achieved a dream that she had often thought to be out of reach. Although happy for Sabrina's promotion and rise to the rank of Captain, the Intel Operative knew that this would not be an easy transition for the redheaded woman and that the ILO would have to be even more vigilant during their upcoming mission to insure that *everyone*… from the ANUBIS and MERCURY alike… returned home as the Commodore had said… safe and sound.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
With the announcement to the crew completed, James turned his attention to his former ExOwith one final task to accomplish… a task that held a strange mixture of great happiness, deep sorrow and some lingering concerns.
"Commander Rikar… it is my pleasure and honour to promote you to the rank of Captain and to officially grant you command of the USS ANUBIS." The Commodore announced as he reached over to the young woman's collar and added a 4th full pip making the change in rank official.
"Thank you James." Sabrina whispered, barely managing to contain her emotions, the man who stood before her having done so much for her over the years making him far more than a simple superior officer to her… and even more than family.
"Don't thank me yet… this is going to be far from a stroll in the park." James countered with, matching the young woman's whispered voice.
As the Commodore stepped back, a round of applauds echoed throughout the bridge as the members of the bridge crew acknowledged the promotion of the former ExO.
"Computer… Place into official ship's log the promotion of Rikar, Sabrina to the rank of Captain and transfer all command codes to Captain Rikar." Simmons said with a mixed tone, giving his last order to the computer of the ANUBIS.
=/\= Transfer of command codes completed. USS ANUBIS is now under the command of Captain Sabrina Rikar. =/\= The computer announced prompting an eerie hush to spread over the bridge, those present unsure if they should be happy for the new appointment of sad that this had come at the cost of them losing the Captain that had gone so many times out of his way to insure their safety and well being.
"Commodore… I accept command and relieve you." The young woman quietly announced, knowing that those were the words to be spoken but finding it almost impossible to put her heart in them.
"I stand relieved Captain." James countered with, following protocole as the new CO had done before making a hasty exit off the bridge of the ANUBIS. As much as he might have wanted to stay behind and talk to the members of the crew, the Commodore knew that many lives hung on the ability of the ship and its crew to get underway on time.
"Orders Captain?" The Sec/Tac officer inquired, the rest of the bridge staff having apparently lost the function of their vocal cords for the time being.
"I want the ANUBIS ready for departure by 1300 hours… we have a crew to find and rescue. There will be a senior staff meeting in the conference lounge at 1230... So I want all departments with a complete report by then." The young woman announced, still finding it hard to believe that what had happened had not been a dream.
Just as Rikar finished saying this, the door to the turbolift hissed opened revealing the imposing form of Lt. Dawson who simply stood there saying nothing. After giving the bridge a quick once over, the young woman made her way to the turbolift and joined David in the seclusion of the small pod, wondering if this would be the last time she would see the former CEO of the ANUBIS.
