Stardate: 60323.2315
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Having retired for the night, Cpt. Rikar had left the XO in charge of the ship, the ANUBIS still rushing at maximum speed for the last known coordinates of the USS MERCURY which was still quite a ways away. Looking at the empty chair in the centre of the bridge the Romulan/Terran hybrid understood some of the apprehension their CO felt towards that particular station, but the former Ops officer had more important things preoccupying her thoughts at the moment.
Using the internal sensors and her experience as a former Sec/Tac officer, the XO kept tabs on the location of the members of the senior staff. Not knowing what to expect for this mission, the Romulan/Teran hybrid had thought it wise to know where everyone was at all times allowing for a faster response should trouble arise. Reacting to the unexpected would be made that much easier but Serenna hoped that the night would pass by uneventfully. Uneventfully that is in regards to things happening outside of the ship at least, the number of activities taking place onboard making it hard to classify the night as being peaceful.
Working as if they had been at the very start of their first shift instead of in the middle of their second the FCO and Ops officers continued with their regular duties. Coming from a planet with much longer days than the norm, the Oltharian had not felt the need to seek rest, and Annie who had taken over Ops for this mission had also not required any downtime, but for completely different reasons. Being what she was, the XO doubted that the ANUBIS' Avatar required any sort of rest, at least not in the common sense of the word.
Looking down at her instruments the Romulan/Terran hybrid could see that Ens. Doratheva, 1st Lt. Pravat and their respective teams had been ready for another training session using the ANUBIS as their playground. Not having seen any harm in the Security and Marine personnel being as prepared as could be, the XO had granted the MCO's request using this opportunity to watch the two sides perform. Having been trained differently, the First Officer found it interesting to watch the various techniques used by each side.
Turning her attention away from the battle that was about to start, the XO noticed that there was still a single life form present in the Astrometrics Lab. The Romulan/Terran hybrid was in no way surprised to discover that the life signs of the person there matched those of the ANUBIS' CSciO who had likely been so busy with her work that she had forgotten about time. Dedicating one's all to the task at hand was something that the former Ops Officer could easily relate to, a character trait that the XO was pleased to see abundant onboard this ship.
Shifting the focus of her scans, the Romulan/Terran hybrid discovered another member of the crew up and about, but this time not in the performing of their duties. Sitting somewhere alone on the upper level of the Black Hole lounge, the XO had identified the ANUBIS' CEO thanks to his imposing size and the nanites coursing through his large body.
Imagining that her friend and Academy classmate had been unable to sleep because he had been contemplating the decisions made and the path extending ahead of him, the XO decided to leave the man be. Intruding on his thoughts at the moment would serve no purpose and it would also mean that she would have to leave the bridge in the hands of someone else, an action that the Romulan/Terran hybrid was not ready to take anything soon.
Leaving the CEO to his own affairs, the Romulan/Terran hybrid continued her survey of the ship and its crew, finding the CMO and CNS in their respective quarters. Grinning inwardly, the XO was happy to find that at least some of the crew had been able to get some rest, giving them a distinct advantage over everyone else come next morning.
Hoping that the CO, ILO and their daughter shared in this same fate, the First Officer ended her internal scans realizing that if Lt. Cmdr. Enaii had still been in the IGC there would have been no way for the XO to know about it. Keeping track of Enaii's movements was a futile as trying to catch a dream with one's bare hands, or a nightmare depending on which side of the ILO one found themselves on.
With nothing else happening, the XO returned her attention to the training exercise currently taking place pitting the attacking forces of 1st Lt. Pravat against the defensive troops of Ens. Doratheva in a battle for control of the ANUBIS' bridge and engineering section. If anything, this would prove to be an interesting display of each team's capabilities and of the resourcefulness of each group leader and using this to learn more about Pravat and Eva suited the Romulan/Terran hybrid just fine.
