Setting: USS ANUBIS, CO's Ready Room
Having left the location of their confrontation with the Cardassians, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had collected all available information before reporting to the captain who had returned to her office. Handing over the PADD that she had brought with her, the XO spoke wanting to get something out of the way before they would review the information. "I wanted to apologise for my earlier objection. You were right and I was wrong."
Looking as if she had been ready to start laughing, the CO just smiled and invited the XO to take a seat. "You have nothing to apologies for, what you did was exactly what you were supposed to do. You made your opinion known to me and voiced your concerns for the safety of the ship. I wish I could tell you that I knew all along that Maya's idea would work, but to be honest it was a gamble, one that we actually did not have all that many options to ignore. Had we not tried, me might have become a pile of floating metal."
Appearing a little relieved by what the CO had said, the Romulan/Terran hybrid moved on to the next point that had been troubling her. "Speaking of 'pile of floating metal', have you noticed something different about David?"
Nodding her agreement, Capt. Rikar took a moment to explain what she had noticed, carefully considering her words and reviewing the more recent events that had involved the ANUBIS' CEO. "There is something different about him, but I am not entirely certain that it is such a bad thing. I have not heard him *trash* the ANUBIS over the last several hours, and I kind of like it. I also did notice something about his eyes, but I might have just been imagining things."
Shaking her head, the XO confirmed what the CO had suspected. "I also say something strange in David's eyes. Maybe we should have Doctor Summers give our CEO a full medical, there might be something wrong with him, something that is making him act the way he is."
Looking as if she was considering the suggestion made by the Romulan/Terran hybrid, the CO actually smiled after a few moments. "Whatever is making David be more compliant cannot be all that bad, but as much as I hate to admit it, we should have Lea look into this, but not right now. David and his staff are up to their eyeballs fixing the ship the mess that the ship was left in, and without as much as a complain from him, so I am not about to do anything that might put an end to this."
Agreeing, the XO lowered her eyes to the PADD indicating that her next words would deal with the report that she had brought in. "Lt. Pravat and his men did an amazing job on the Cardassian ship, bringing back all of the files contained in their computer without losing any of his men. I was planning on going down to Sickbay to speak with him and get a more detailed account of what happened after I am finished here, but I wanted to let you know that Lt. Cmdr. Maya and Annie are reviewing those files as we speak. We should have something soon as to the possible location of the MERCURY's crew."
Appearing pleased with the report, the CO stood from behind her desk. "I'll finish reading your report on the bridge, in the meantime go to Sickbay and convey my most sincere thanks and gratitude to our MCO for a job well done."

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Sickbay
Walking into the main section of Sickbay, the Romulan/Terran hybrid thought that she had stepped into a Marine compound, the soldiers under the command of 1st Lt. Pravat being everywhere. Following a quick scan of the room, the XO spotted the MCO speaking with one of the nurses who was attending to what appeared to be a minor burn on one of the Marines. Sliding next to Pravat, the Executive Officer tapped the nurse on the shoulder. "Is everything all right?"
Looking back at the XO as if she had arrived just in time to save the day, the nurse glared at the MCO before giving her reply to the Romulan/Terran hybrid. "It's Lt. Pravat, he is insisting that none of his men require medical treatment."
Wasting no time to defend his position on the matter, Pravat jumped in. "They don't! A little bit of pain is good for the soul and will serve as a reminder that they need to be more careful when in the field."
Having been the Sec/Tac, the Romulan/Terran hybrid could actually understand the logic behind what the Marine CO had said, this greatly reduced her sympathy for the nurse and the Marine that she had been trying to heal. "You are quite right Lieutenant, a little pain does help focus the mind of the troops, but right now it may be to our advantage to have everyone in top condition. We have no idea how soon we will be where the crew of the MERCURY is being held and what sort of opposition we will be facing."
Looking almost surprised that the XO had sided with him, at least for the most part, the MCO abandoned his quest to not have his men treated for the various bumps and bruises they had accumulated during their taking of the Cardassian ship. Just as Pravat had been ready to ask as to the reason for the XO's presence in Sickbay, the CMO stepped in between the two of them. "With all due respect, this is a Sickbay, not a meeting hall, so if you two are in good health, please get out and allow my people to do their jobs."
Not wanting to upset the Doctor, the Romulan/Terran hybrid motioned for the MCO to head towards the door from where they would be able to find a more appropriate location for the debriefing.
