Setting: USS ANUBIS, Deck 2, Dawson's Quarters
Stardate: 60326.1130
David sat motionless for several hours after his confrontation with Sabrina. Death... seemed to be the going thing for the soon to be former CEO of the ANUBIS. His parents, his brother, and now... his former lover's wife.
"It always seems that I'm responsible for someone's death" David said to himself and shook his head. He picked up a PADD on his desk that the aCEO stopped by and dropped off earlier. After signing off on them he activated his desktop console.
"Computer, began log."
The computer made its customary bleeps and David cleared his throat.
"Chief Engineer's Log, Stardate 60325. The ANUBIS is close to NEW ALEXANDRIA and she's held up due to the circumstances. Kudos once again goes to my talented staff..."
David paused and thought of his staff. They had been through so much together. He had brought 4 officers with him when they transfered off the AVALON and the officers assigned to the engineering department from NEW ALEXANDRIA had proven their worth to the CEO. His door chime brought him out of he reverie.
"Come" David said and Lea entered.
"Hello David. I thought you could use some company..." and she paused looking at the massive CEO.
"Well... after my last visitor I'm probably better off not seeing anyone."
Being the proficient doctor she was, Lea produced a tricorder and scanned the CEO. "Someone hasn't been sleeping." she said as she looked at him, "have you been eating?"
David shook his head. "Haven't had much of an appitite."
"David!" Lea exclaimed, "you're gonna make yourself sick."
"Well, when they throw me in the stockade, I'll at least look the part" he said dryly.
"Always a pessimist. You used to be so optimistic..."
"How can anyone be optimistic when you're responsible for so many deaths?!" David asked the CMO.
Lea sighed, "OK David, who's death are you responsible for now?" she asked.
"My parents... my brother... and now... Enaii."
Lea's eyes narrowed, "Enaii?"
"Guess you haven't heard. Sabrina says its my fault Enaii is dead. And she's right. If I hadn't stolen the SPHNIX she'd still be alive..."
Lea couldn't believe her ears. It was a sticky situation, but the captain blaming him for Enaii's death.
David sighed. "And she's right."
"I don't know what... possessed you to steal the SPHNIX, but if it weren't for you they'd been a lot more casualities or fatalaties. Look at how many people we brought back..."
"*That's* not the point Lea..." and he sighed again, "as *much* as I've tried to curb my temper, it has finally caught up with me..." and the CEO started chuckling, "I'll be the first Dawson drummed out of service. And the most profilic name in the Dawson family will go down in flames."
Lea placed her hand on the massive CEOs shoulder. "David... I heard that you didn't remember stealing the SPHNIX or anything you did on the planet. Have you been able to remember anything?"
David shook his head. "Not much... but I have a good idea."
"Meaning?" Lea asked.
"Richard." David said and Lea looked at him and it looked as if all the energy in David's body disappeared. His door chimed again.
"Come" David said, his voice barely above a whisper.
The door opened and the ANUBIS' executive officer entered.
"Doctor" she said nodding to Lea and looking at David, "David... you and I need to have a talk."
Lea patted David on his shoulder. "I'll see you later..."
"Doctor, I'll need you to stay" Serenna said as she took a seat.
