Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Stardate: 60326.1515
While overseeing the final stages of the ANUBIS' return to its home base the Romulan/Terran hybrid kept to herself reviewing in her mind the events of the last few minutes and reluctantly having to admit that things had not gone as she had hoped them to. Thinking that 'placing David under arrest the moment they docked' had been more a figure of speech than an actual intent, the XO had learned the hard way to take her CO at face value on everything she said. Also thinking back to the unexpected visit of their former CO, the hybrid wished that the encounter would have been under better circumstances.
Approaching the visibly troubled XO, something that was a very rare sight, the Robotics Engineer and ANUBIS' acting FCO did everything he could to be certain that he had been seen so as to not surprise the Romulan/Terran hybrid, an easy task given the Oltharian's size. "Cmdr. Serenna, I respectfully request permission to disembark."
Looking up at the towering man now standing only a few feet from her the Romulan/Terran hybrid thought that at least David would get some comfort in having the former CEO by his side, if Lt. Fairborn could manage to reach Dawson through all of the security the CO had dragged along with her. Not knowing the Oltharian's actual position on the situation surrounding the ANUBIS' CEO, the XO went ahead making a fatal tactical error which she would not know of until it was too late. "Permission granted Lt. Fairborn, I am sure that David will be most appreciative of your presence by his side and support in this time of need."
Standing completely still for what appeared to be an eternity the Oltharian said nothing, instead looking at the Romulan/Terran hybrid in such a way that made the XO immediately understand that she had made a grave error in assuming that Elan's request had been motivated by David. Presenting himself to the hybrid in as professional a manner as possible Lt. Fairborn explained his reasons for having made the request to be allowed off the ANUBIS. "I have a detailed report to submit in regards to Annie's performance during our last mission."
Appearing numbed by what the Oltharian's had indirectly admitted to, that of supporting the course of action taken by the ship's CO instead of siding with a friend and fellow engineer, the Romulan/Terran hybrid held back any personal comment she had for the giant, instead instructing him to move along with his stated responsibilities with a sharp movement of her head.
Watching the towering figure from the corner of her eye as he made his way to the turbolift the Romulan/Terran hybrid could not begin to imagine what had happened to have the Oltharian, whom she had seen with their own CEO on many occasion, turn his back on David as he had just done. Knowing Elan for the gentle soul that he was the XO could only guess that the giant had a very valid reason known only to him for having decided to act as he had. Thinking that maybe the former CEO, now Robotics Engineer, had thought of or discovered something that no one else had about David and his atypical actions, the hybrid could only wait and hope.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Corridor
Stardate: 60326.1545
After having completed the docking procedures the Romulan/Terran hybrid decided to do a visual inspection of the ship's most damaged area. Looking through a shimmering force field and past the outer limits of where the ship's hull should have been the XO could see several windows of the base they were now securely docked at. During their voyage back the ablative armor had compensated for the lack of primary hull in this region of the ship but now that the armor had been deactivated the extent of the damage seemed much worse.
Leaning forward a little the XO could see the base's engineering teams already setting up to effect repairs to the ANUBIS, a task that the First Officer anticipated to take several weeks if not months given the extent of the damages the ship had endured. Remembering the long list of needed repairs for the ship the Romulan/Terran hybrid wondered if the ship would be repaired by the time the issues with Lt. Dawson would be dealt with, easily imagining that the crew would be back together without a ship to use.
Having taken more than enough time looking at the gaping hole in the ship the Romulan/Terran hybrid resumed her walk while reviewing all of the items and arguments she would be presenting on behalf of David's defence during the preliminary hearing to see if a court-martial was indeed necessary. Remembering some of the items the XO had read in the CEO's file she already anticipated this to be an uphill battle since David's trend of inability to control his anger and general disregard for complying with orders seemed to stretch almost all the way back to the Academy. Even if the CEO was innocent of the more recent charges, his track record would make it nearly impossible to avoid the court-martial during which the XO would have the daunting task of proving that David had been under the control of an outside influence.
