Setting: USS ANUBIS, Corridor Outside Main Engineering
Stardate: 60327.0930

After having investigated the cause of the complete power failure that had swept through the ship, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had remained in the corridor outside Main Engineering reviewing what she had been told; that there had been no explanation for the power systems to go offline and back to operational status after a few minutes. According to the aCEO it had been like the ship itself had decided to take a nap, taking every system down.

Thinking that maybe this could be a sign of something more significant the XO had ordered that the entire power conversion system of the ANUBIS be inspected, a precaution that would require the ship and its crew to remain in dry-dock for at least an additional week following the repairs to the outer hull. As unappealing as this was for the Romulan/Terran hybrid, the XO knew that this precautionary measure was necessary to insure the continued safety of the crew.

Reluctantly accepting that she would not have the answer for a long while, the Romulan/Terran hybrid decided to return to the Black Hole Lounge where she had left the ship's CMO and Cns. Heading back the way she had come, the XO saw the new Sec/Tac officer walking towards her, the Nausicaan having likely decided to investigate the same odd occurrence as she had.

Facing the XO who clearly did not like him had not been in Ens. Rostov's plans when he had set out to go to Main Engineering to see what had caused the power failure, but being the type of man that he was he presence in his path would not change what he needed to do. Standing firm the Nausicaan braced himself for the Romulan/Terran hybrid's harshness as he came to stand in front of her. "Commander, I came to see if there was a problem."

Finding it hard to reproach the man's diligence, in spite of her personal feelings towards Nico and his race, the XO managed to be professional in her dealing with the Sec/Tac officer to the point of almost being friendly with him. "The aCEO, Lt. T'Reni, has given me all that she could on what happened, which I have to admit was not all that much. She had no explanation as to why all systems on the ANUBIS simultaneously went offline before returning to full working status a few minutes later."

Looking perplexed by what the XO had reported the Sec/Tac officer seemed to be debating with himself for a few minutes before making what he believed to be an appropriate suggestion. "Commander, maybe we have an intruder or even a saboteur onboard, I recommend that we place the ship of heightened security status until the cause of this malfunction is discovered."

Suppressing the smile that had threatened to overpower her face, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had been on the verge of congratulating the Ensign on his exemplary diligence, but at the last moment the XO countered with a dismissal of the idea by saying, "Ensign, we are *inside* a top secret SFI base that is not even suppose to exist, therefore I find it hard to believe that we might have a saboteur onboard. I have asked Lt. T'Reni to perform a complete diagnostic of the power conversion systems of this ship. For the time being I am considering this matter as closed."

Appearing less than impressed by the way that his concerns had been dismissed, regardless if the XO had been right or wrong to do so, Ens. Rostov decided to stand his ground never having been one to back down from any type of confrontation. "With all due respect Commander, and without implying that the security of this base is not the best I have ever seen, there are *things* out there in this universe that have no problems penetrating any defence systems regardless of how sophisticated they may be. Until a cause can be found, it is prudent for us to take on a more defensive posture."

Knowing that the Sec/Tac officer had been referring to the creatures that had attacked the MERCURY and disabled its systems in a matter of seconds, the same creatures which had invaded the ANUBIS later on, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had to agree that the Nausicaan had been correct. Agreeing with Ens. Rostov and actually voicing this was far from being the same where the XO had been concerned, so once again the hybrid found herself dismissing the warrior's concerns despite her better judgement. "Your objection has been noted ensign, but for the time being we will continue as we are. There is no need to make a bad situation worse by feeding fears and paranoia without solid proof."

Accepting the XO's decision the Nausicaan took a sidestep allowing the Romulan/Terran hybrid to continue on her way without any further objections. Watching the woman vanish into the nearest turbolift, Ens. Rostoiv could not help but question if he had wronged the hybrid in some way since his arrival on the ANUBIS so as to explain why she seemed so adamant in opposing him and his recommendations.

Returning to the place where she had left the Cns and CMO, the Romulan/Terran hybrid was surprised to find neither one of them sitting at the table where she had last seen them. Doubting that they would have ventured into the ship when the lights had been off, the XO began formulating possibilities to explain why both women had vanished while she had been down in Main Engineering. Reacting as any good officer would, the hybrid reached for her comm. badge and inquired as to Lea and Susan's whereabouts. "Computer, locate Ens. Summers and Ens. Mei."

Responding with the usual speed, the computer gave an answer that the XO found disturbing. =/\= Ens. Summers and Ens. Mei are not onboard the ANUBIS. =/\=

Trying to figure out how the two of them could have disembarked so rapidly, the Romulan/Terran hybrid immediately imagined that they had come across something important concerning their CEO. Not wanting to waste any time searching for them in a base that was larger than a small city, the XO made another request of the computer. "Interface with NEW ALEXANDRIA's mainframe and locate Ens. Summers and Ens. Mei."

Following a few beeps and chimes, the computer reported on its findings, once again taking the XO by surprise. =/\= Ens. Summers and Ens. Mei are not onboard NEW ALEXANDRIA. =/\=

Wondering as to where the two women could have disappeared to, the Romulan/Terran hybrid began to reconsider the concerns of their Sec/Tac officer. Could the unexplained power failure and the disappearance of the ship's CMO and Cns have a common cause, and if so what was this cause and could it prove to be a danger to the rest of the crew?
