Setting: USS ANUBIS, Corridor
The senior staff left the lounge with filled stomachs and waving
concerns for the mission to come. Certain, like Niko and Uxtar, could not
have been happier. Pushing a ship like the HATHOR to its limits had been
right up their line of work. Lea on the other hand had not been all
that thrilled with their next mission. Trading her sickbay for a room
barely the size of a closet had not been her idea of something fun.
Sharing that space with a new assistant had just made matters worse.
Lea had nothing against Elizabeth, aside from thinking that the Ensign
was a little rough around the edges. The simulation that the CMO had
walked in the middle of had not made things any easier. The aCMO's way
of dealing with what she had believed to be a holographic CMO had just
been wrong. So maybe Lea did have issues with Liz, but as a *higher*
ranking officer, the CMO could not let this bother her.
The best thing to do, Lea thought, was to tackle an entirely different
matter.
"David!" Lea called out to the two walking mountains that had been a
few steps ahead.
Both David and Elan turned and waited for Lea to catch up to them. The
sight of the short woman standing in between the two pillars was
hilarious, but the CMO had grown accustomed to it.
"Congratulations on your promotion," David said, barely looking down at
Lea.
"Thanks. I wanted to talk to you if I could," Lea said glancing at the
other towering man. Being the type of man that he was, Elan quickly
picked up on the CMO's wishes.
"I shall leave you to talk," the CEO said, adding a respectful bow that
made Lea smile. "I will be on the HATHOR should you need me.
Lieutenant, Healer," Elan concluded adding yet another bow before taking a step backwards.
Lea waited for Elan to be out of earshot before turning to David.
"What's on your mind? You barely said a word during lunch."
"Are you the Cns or the CMO?" David dryly replied. It didn't take a
genius to know that the CEO had not wanted to talk. Luckily for Lea
though, she was not a genius not anywhere close to it.
"I'm here as a friend David," Lea said a little annoyed by the way
David had spoken to her. "So if you feel like talking to a friend, I'll be
here for you. If you feel like speaking to a Doctor, I'll also be
there. And should you decided that you want rip the arms off someone, I am
sure Elan will be happy to oblige."
David stares are Lea for a moment. It took the CEO a few seconds to
realise that the CMO had been kidding about the last part. When he did
though, David smiled. "Thanks, I'll talk to you later. Right now you
look like you are about to get busy."
Lea did not understand what David had meant until she noticed the aCMO
heading their way.
"Doctor Summers, I was hoping that we would have some time to go over
the emergency medical procedures of the HATHOR. I know that this is
supposed to be a simple exploration mission, but I could use the extra
review," Liz said. Despite the initial impression Lea had gotten of her
assistant, Ens. Halliwel did seem to be eager to learn.
By the time Lea had turned to speak to David once again before signing
off, the CMO noticed that the engineer had already left. It seemed
that he had been right and that they would be talking later, that Lea
liked it or not.
"Very well ensign," Lea said turning back to her assistant. "Let's go
to the HATHOR and see what kind of trouble we can create."
