Setting: USS HATHOR, Corridor

Lea had been in the middle of picking up the medical supplies that had gone flying when the call came in. The image that immediately formed in the CMO's head was David, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The ANUBIS' CEO had a nasty habit of getting hurt. Then again Lea had a bad habit of getting abducted while on away missions. As the CMO rushed to Main Engineering, Lea could only hope that the injury had not been as bad as she had imagined.

Arriving at the entrance to Main Engineering, Lea stopped for a second. She had ignored the pain of her leg which had impacted again the one and only bed in sickbay. The bruise that would soon appear would likely be a monster but Lea had other things to be concerned about. Right now the only thing that needed to be on her mind was to take care of the injured officer. Whoever it might have been.

The moment Lea walked in she was met with a surprising sight. The CMO had not expected to see him standing there unharmed, and the expression on her face showed it.

"Lea, glad it's you," David said as he approached the baffled CMO.

"You don't seem hurt?" Lea asked more of whatever universal power there was than the engineer standing there in front of her.

"Why? Should I be?" The CEO asked, cocking his head slightly to one side.

"When I was called, I just assumed that it was you who found yet another way to get hurt," Lea admitted. The CMO had not wanted to be so blunt but the shock of seeing David unscathed had been truly unexpected.

"Well the good news is that there is not a single toe out of place," David said with a wide grin. The night before, during the surprise party, they two of them had someone gotten on the subjects of toes. The CEO could not remember how they had landed on that subject, but right now that didn’t matter. "It's Elan. The sudden shift sent him flying across the room."

It was only after David had said this that Lea noticed the Oltharian on the other side of the room. Lea could not believe that she had not noticed him there earlier. Standing Elan was impossible to miss, so it had come as a shock that the CMO had failed to see the giant engineer, even if laying down.

While Lea squeezed her way to the back section of the room, the CMO tried to image how someone like Elan had manage to land where he had. If Lea had found it hard to get there, she could only dread as to what shape she would find the Oltharian in.

"Elan?" Lea asked, kneeling next to the downed giant. "What happened?"

"Nothing to be concerned about Healer," Elan replied as if the accident had been his fault. "All I need is to get back onto my feet…"

The CMO stopped the man in his tracks by placing her hand on his shoulder. The sight of someone as small as Lea being able to hold someone as large as Elan was hilarious. "You are not going anywhere," Lea said pointing to the engineer's leg. "I may not be an expert on Oltharian physiology, but I am pretty sure that your leg is not supposed to look that way."

"I am very sorry for being a burden Healer," Elan apologised.

Lea grinned and glanced at the other giant engineer, standing a few feet back. Now if only all of her patients had been so concerned about her. As stubborn as David had been at times, she still would not have changed anything. If being a CMO had been easy, anyone would have been able to do it.

"Is he going to be alright?" the aCEO asked, visibly concerned for Elan.

"He will be fine," Lea replied, "as soon as I mend his leg back into a single straight piece."

=/\= Bridge to Engineering, are you in need of assistance Doctor? =/\= Serenna asked, sounding more concerned about the mission than the Oltharian.

"No, I think I have everything under control here," the CMO replied. Looking at Elan and at the path that she had taken to get to him, Lea revised her answer. "I will need some help to get my patient back to sickbay. I have one broken leg and I doubt that a stretcher is going to fit where we are."

=/\= Stand-by for site-to-site transport, =/\= Carft said. One of the advantages of being on such a small ship was that everyone heard every discussion. And on the bridge there were no secrets.

"I am truly sorry Healer," Elan repeated. It was clear by the look on his face that he did not wish to be any sort of trouble to Lea. Even if taking care of injuries had been her one and only job.

"Elan, do me a favour. Stop saying that you are sorry and just let me do my job," Lea said in commanding voice. The Oltharian immediately became quiet.

=/\= Bridge to engineering… energizing… now! =/\=

David watched as Elan and Lea vanished in a swirl of lights. When transport was completed he turned and came face to face with Brian Garrity. What bugged the aCEO the most was the look in the Ensign's eyes. Although the engineer could not explain why, it looked like Brian had held David responsible for what had happened. The shift in the inertial dampener had been caused by some power surge. So why had Brian seem so bent on blaming David?
