Setting: USS HATHOR, Main Engineering
Lea had been standing in Main Engineering for a while now. The CMO had
not wanted to get in anyone's way, so she had made herself as small as
possible. Compared to Elan and David, Lea had already been minuscule,
so that had not been much of a problem.
She had wanted to speak to David and see how he was doing. That was
until she saw how busy he and the others had been. In the end Lea had
found watching the aCEO working just as interesting. There was a passion
in the man that she could feel even from across the room. Lea watched
with awe the two giants as they observed the small warp core come to
life. As the HATHOR increased its speed, so did the tension in the room.
Lea thought that this would have been a good place for Susan to be, at
least as far as being a Cns. Observing people in their natural habitat
while responding to the pressures of the job could prove to be very
interesting. The CMO though had been more interested in one particular
engineer. David physically appeared to be the same person, but his way
of dealing with others had changed. Maybe this had been because of the
removal of Richard's influence. Maybe it had been because the peaceful
and gentle nature of élan had rubbed off on him. Maybe it had been a
combination of the two. Whatever it was Lea found the less angry and
explosive David Dawson much more appealing.
"Something I can do for you Doctor?" Garrity asked. The engineer had noticed Lea standing in the corner next to the door and had come to investigate.
"Just came to see if everyone was alright," Lea replied. At first
Garrity figured that the CMO had come to see how the CEO had been doing.
After all it had been the Oltharian who had suffered the earlier injury.
After a few second though, Garrity noticed that Lea's eyes were not
following Elan but rather David. This behaviour peeked the undercover
officer's curiosity. He had been told of a possible relationship between
the CMO and CEO of the ANUBIS, but he had not expected this. Lea
seemed quite taken by the massive engineer and this might prove useful in
his evaluation of David's state of mind.
"Lea," David said having turned to look at some readout on the wall and noticed the CMO standing there. Garrity made a quick sideways exit while he worked on how to use this to further in investigation on the aCEO. "What are you doing here? Checking on Elan? Worried that I might be giving him a hard time?"
The CMO smiled. "I doubt anyone could give Elan a hard time. That man would lie down on the floor of his own free will and allow anyone to walk over him if they just asked. No, I just came to see how *you* were doing." Lea looked up into the bald man's hazel eyes. The CMO could not explain it but there was something in those eyes that made her smile even more.
"Thanks for worrying about me," David said sounding for that moment a
lot like the Oltharian. The voice was calm and told of him being at
peace with himself and the rest of the universe. "How about you and I go
for a bite to eat at the end of the shift?"
"That would be nice," Lea said feeling her cheeks burning. "So lets
make it 1230 in the Mess Hall?"
"Sounds like a plan," David grinned, adding a wink for good measure
before returning to his work. "I'll take care of ordering us lunch."
Feeling like a school girl who had just been asked for a date, lea left
Main Engineering and returned to Sickbay. With David and their lunch
date on her mind, the CMO had totally forgotten about Garrity and they
way he had seemed interested in Lea and her focus on David.

Susan and Liz walked into Sickbay and found Lea cataloguing all of the medical instruments. That by itself had not been strange except for one surprising detail. Lea had been doing this while *singing*.
"Somebody is in a good mood," Susan said, shooting an amused look at her friend. "What happened? Did you inject yourself with a stimulant of some sort?"
"Funny," Lea said smiling back at her friend, not appearing at all annoyed by what Susan had said.
"Is there a problem?" Liz asked, not having known Lea long enough to recognise that this was not the norm for the CMO.
"Problem? No," Susan grinned. "At least not physically speaking unless
you are looking at her heart."
"Her heart?" The aCMO repeated not at all following.
"I think Cupid paid our good Doctor here an unexpected visit," the Cns
explained in a whispered voice. It would not take long for Susan to be
certain of what she suspected. All that the Cns needed was a few
moments with the CMO and a single to the point question.
