#101 - USS HATHOR: Dawson: Day 5 - 2010 ("Once Again...")

"Once Again..."
(Previous Post: Jessica's 'And They Said...')
===================================

Setting: USS HATHOR, Deck 3, Main Engineering
Stardate: 60331.2010

The light had slowly returned to the eyes of the HATHOR's aCEO. The muscles in his chest burned, his arms ached, and he heard voices. Then it came to him. Engineering had intruders. The Breen. As David slowly sat up, one of the Breen noticed his movements.

=/\= No sudden movements or I will kill you, =/\= the Breen soldier had said to David as he slid up the bulkhead to get to his feet. His hands were tied behind his back. Whoever had trussed the engineer up did a good job. David's eyes scanned the entire deck. The engineering staff were gone so that left him and the two Breen soldiers who were actually two of Pravat's marines. But that was the least of David's worries. As the warp engines powered down, the noise they made alerted him that something was wrong.

**OK,** David thought to himself, **the warp engines are out of phase. Two possibilities: Either its another glitch or someone tampered with it. And knowing tampering is out of the question because there are only 2 people on this ship that could do that. Me and Elan,** and the engineer was brought out of his private thoughts by one of the Breen.

=/\= We have read the personnel files of your crew. You are the assistant chief engineer. You will assist us. =/\=

David didn't move a muscle but continued with his original line of thought.

**Knock out engineering, you can run the ship. So I better play along.** "And if I don't?" David asked.

=/\= Then you will die. =/\=

"Been there, done that," David said glaring at the Breen soldier who in turn kicked David in the bend of his knee bringing the massive engineer down then using the butt of his phaser rifle hit the aCEO in the temple. The other Breen soldier grabbed the first and as David shook out the cobwebs got back to his feet. Since both marines knew of David's explosive temper and sheer strength, both went on the defensive only to see the engineer breathing heavily.

"I suggest you do *not* hit me again," David warned as the shorter of the Breen moved forward while the taller one halted her progress.

=/\= You will assist us. Your warp engines are not performing effenciently. You will repair them. =/\=

**Maybe this is the inside I need,** David thought. "In order for me to repair the warp engines I'm goning to need my hands."

The taller Breen approached and released the engineer's hands, with a warning.

=/\= You will listen to what we say. Any deviation from our instructions will lead to your demise. =/\=

David rubbed his wrists before crossing the deck with both Breen on him. As he stood at the center console on the main engineering deck, David ran a level one diagnostic on the engines. As the Breen watched, David also brought up the skems on the HATHORs systems.

**Internal communications offline. Sensors as well,** David thought so there wasn't a way to tell who was where and if there were more Breen on board. But the computer did tell him something. The doors in main shuttlebay opened as the ship slowled. Shields were at 130% and the SIF was at 123% and rising fast.

**What in the hell?!** David thought as he saw the bandwidth. He went to compensate when one of the Breen saw him.

=/\= You were not instructed to bring up no other ship functions... =/\=

**Well... here goes,** David thought. When the Breen reached for him, she was met with a powerful right hand stiffarm move which shot her across the deck. David grabbed a PADD and as the taller Breen raised his rifle, David threw the PADD with such force it took the marine off his feet. David ran for the door, but it didn't open.

"Dammit!" the aCEO said as he headed for the lift that would have taken him a deck up. Since it was already on deck 2, David grabbed the rungs and headed up. His powerful arms got him up the ladder in no time but a shot in the back slowled him. A second shot caused the massive engineer to loose his footing and he fell and hit the main engineering deck hard. Both marines got to their feet and noticed the engineer not moving and there was blood coming from under his head.

"Dammit" the female marine said, "Prav is gonna have a fit."

"He won't" the male marine said tapping his badge.

=/\= Go ahead, =/\= came the disembodied voice of 1st Lieutenant Pravat.

"Sir, we have a small problem..." and he heard Prav sigh.

=/\= Didn't I tell you to keep a close eye on Dawson?! Were those *not* my exact orders?! =/\=

"Sir we did, but we noticed a shift in the power systems. Alarms were going off down here so we thought..."

=/\= Your *job* is not to think! =/\= Prav barked, =/\= but to follow orders. The ship isn't in danger... =/\=

=/\= But Lieutenant Dawson is sir, =/\= the female marine replied, =/\= he tried to escape and he fell off the lift. =/\=

Silence. Prav hadn't expected any casualities with the exercise. It pleased him somewhat that his marines could handle the problematic engineer, but not kill him.

=/\= Monitor his breathing. If it gets any worse contact me. =/\=

"But sir, he's bleeding." the female marine said.

=/\=If it isn't a large pool of blood, Dawson will be fine. Out! =/\=

The marines exchanged glances at each other through their helmets and the only thing the thought to do was to tie the engineer's hands up again.
