The young woman watched her daughter devour the lunch that had been placed in front of her. Apparently the selection of Romulan Puff Pastries… although replicated had been the right one permitting the ANUBIS' CO to quietly contemplate the idea that had formed in her mind.
Thanks to her security clearance, being a captain and all, the redheaded woman had accessed the report filed by the HATHOR's CEO about what he had seen when he had touched the first crystal. The idea of experiencing a piece of another culture's history had been inviting to Rikar but the last thing the young woman wanted had been to have her own memories suppressed, even if only momentarily.
For a brief moment Sabrina glanced at her daughter thinking that she and the memories of her biological mother were all that she had left of the woman who had become her life-mate and who had showed her so much of the universe. Despite Enaii's cold exterior there had been a warmth and life force about the woman that Rikar still felt… and the redheaded woman had not wanted to risk losing this.
That said though, curiosity made the ANUBIS' CO continue to contemplate the possibility of her volunteering for this experience knowing that as a mere observer on the HATHOR the young woman had the least to lose. As a former MCO, Sabrina poured over the accompanying report of Doctor Halliwell which clearly showed that the Oltharian had suffered no ill effect from his visions. The memories that had been implanted into his mind had remained only long enough for him to make a record of them before returning Elan to the person that he had been before.
As a former Cns though, the young woman could not help but wonder as to the psychological effects of such an experience, leaving a person with inaccessible memories which could be best described as a vague dream. After having read and reread all of the reports she had obtain, the redheaded woman decided that the benefits to the ship and maybe even the Federation surpassed the potential personal drawbacks. As hard as the decision might have been for Rikar to make, she knew that it would have been a decision that Enaii would have fully endorsed. The former ILO of the ANUBIS had after all a habit of placing the needs of the Federation above those of the individuals immediately effected by her decisions, which included herself.

The door chime echoed throughout the small room prompting the young woman to stand from her bed and go to the door. After having opened the door, the ANUBIS' CO came face to face with the HATHOR's CSciO.
"Here you go… I am not sure why you wanted me to bring a crystal here instead of you coming to the storage bay but I am grateful for your help. Ens. Kea had been very efficient at beaming these crystals over from the comet and the information that we have so far gathered is proving to be simply remarkable. However these people were, they had a very elaborate history which included some very interesting legends and literary art. I can only hope that your experience will be as enjoyable as that of everyone else." The Shillian eventually stopped talking after seeing Talia sitting at the table finishing her lunch. As she entered the room… without having been actually invited, not that the young woman minded, the CSciO handed over the box which contained the crystal that had been brought as per the captain's request.
As she followed the Shillian back into the room, allowing the door to close behind them, the young woman instinctively reach for the crystal without thinking triggering the transfer before she had prepared herself as she had wanted to.

With the rapid advancements in technology which had permitted people to communicate with each other despite the mountains and oceans standing between them, all of the planet's governments became one step closer to becoming unified in their goals to better the quality of life for all of the citizens of INKARRA. The lack of communication between the rulers of the various regions and provinces had often led to misunderstandings which only grew into conflicts.
The activation of the global communication net was herald as the introduction of a new age of peace by many who had unfortunately failed to feel the draw back of having information so easily flow from one province to another. Within the first full yarn (year) the majority of the governments had been made to see that controlling the flow of this information had been next to impossible leaving the people of their provinces to be influenced by the ideals and opinions of people half a word away. Many saw this as a way of better understanding their distant brothers and sisters, but some feared that these unknown ideals would contribute to a breakdown of their own society. Had these people been more outspoken maybe the events of the following 5 decades would have been avoided… as well as the death of so many innocent who had done nothing to deserve the hell that had been unleashed.
The transmission records showed that it was the population of the northern province of JANHAN which were the first to be overwhelmed by millions of messages encouraging the populace to revolt against their oppressive ruler. Having been an isolated province with very strict restrictions on everything, the rest of INKARRA had thought encouraging this revolt to be in the best interest of the global population… especially after the news of a mass execution of youths wanting changes was broadcast.
What the general population had failed to realise was that the province of JANHAN had spent the previous decades stockpiling weapons to insure that their isolation would never be challenged, so instead of bowing to the will of the global population the government became more restrictive. Instead of accepting that their ways might not be best for those living under their rules, the JANHAN dictator sent his army to the borders and severed all links with other provinces. This lead to an outcry from the general population which triggered political pressured to be imposed on the small and once perfectly isolated province.
Fearing that their way of life had been threatened beyond the point of acceptance, the JANHAN ruler decided to strike first by revealing the extent of their amassed weapons through resealing them against the most outspoken of their neighbouring provinces plunging the northern provinces into a blood war.
Maybe if the rest of INKARRA had sided against the JANHAN ruler, the war would have short, but instead many of the more orthodox governments saw the province as the victim of the misguided attitudes of the others and joined the fight in support of individual rights to rule as they saw fit. Within a yarn the entire planet found itself plunged into a war which forced the new age which had been hoped to be that of peace to be instead known as the 'Isolationist Wars'.
==========
The young woman felt her heart pounding within her chest as her mind returned to the here and now. It had been foolish to believe that the history of an entire civilization could have been free of conflicts… but that had given Rikar little comfort after having been made to experience the events that had led to the death of missions. The only positive the ANUBIS' CO could find in what she had experienced had been that now they knew the name of the planet from which the archive had originated from.
