Setting: USS HATHOR, Corridor ouside Captain Rikar's Quarters
After making his rounds of repairs to damaged sections of the ship, David was avoiding the last stop on his list. Sure with his rank he could have ordered a junior officer this particular task but in one of his counseling sessions with Susan, David couldn't afford to avoid Sabrina for the rest of his life. Or for as long as the two of them served together. David took a deep breath and thumbed the chime. The door opened and the aCEO was greeted by the ANUBIS' COs daughter.
"What you want?" Talia said eyeing the engineer.
"I'm here to repair your door..." David's voice trailed off as he saw Sabrina sitting on the couch. The ANUBIS' CO looked woozy.
"Captain?" David said, "Captain, are you alright?"
Sabrina looked as if she looked straight through the engineer.
"Captain Rikar!" David said a little louder as Sabrina blinked. She placed the crystal on the table.
"Lieutenant," she said standing, "what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to fix your door panel. Since Elan was busy in the storage bay it fell to me."
Sabrina picked Talia up so David could enter. David looked at the panel.
"OK" the engineer said with a chuckle, "I take it you did this?"
Sabrina frowned. "Yes. And I got the door to open thank you very much."
David shrugged as he saw Talia roll her eyes. David opened his kit and pulled out a paif of cutters.
"So... where were you when I got here?"
"What do you mean?" Sabrina asked.
"You looked like you were somewhere else" he said
removing his tricorder from his kit.
Sabrina's eyes drifted to the crystal. "You... could say that. Look David, could this wait? I mean with all that's happened..."
"3 minutes and I'll be out of your hair," David said as he went to snip the frayed wires. Somehow, they still had juice flowing through them and when the engineer touched them, the panel sparked almost knocking him backwards. He shook his hand.
"Dammit!" David snapped.
"I think 'SOME BICKS' is what you use." Talia said with a raised eyebrow as Sabrina eyed the engineer.
"Talia!" Sabrina said.
"Bad man always say that when panel light up."
"I do not" David said looking at Talia who looked exactly like her mother, "when have I ever said some..." and he chuckled. David could see the captain mouthing the word over and over. Her emerald green eyes narrowed.
"I hope you'd refrain from using profane language in front of my daughter." Sabrina said.
"I apologize" and he stood and put the cover back on the panel, "by the way, how did you get the door to open?"
"My engineering prowess," she said with a nod, "I told you I am not as helpless as you think."
"Oh really?" David said snapping his tricorder shut, "then you might want to repair the junction node behind Talia's bed... and get her finger checked."
"Finger?" Sabrina said looking at Talia's hand and sure enough there was a burn.
"Seen enough of those to know a small charge burn when I see one. Have a good evening Captain," and David looked to Talia who only nodded. As David exited, his combadge chriped.
=/\= Lea to David. =/\=
"Go ahead Doctor," David replied.
=/\= If you have a moment, could you come to the storage bay? =/\=
"On my way," and he closed the connection.

When David entered the bay he saw Elan sitting on the deck with Lea knealing next to him. Her eyes met those of the aCEO and she smiled.
"Hey you," she said as she approached and nodded towards the crystals, "pick one and try it out."
"Try it out?" David asked.
"Yes... Elan's tried. So have I."
"And just about everyone in here," Elan said getting to his feet.
"What do they do?" David asked.
"We believe them to be files of civilizations past.... well... what you'll experience them to be." Lea said.
"They're moving my friend," Elan said.
"And the captain has put a open request to the crew to access them as we beam them aboard. So I was wondering if you'd help."
David looked on as even Garrity was assisting. He had to be helped to a seat as he shook his head.
"I don't know," David said, "I'd have to think about that."
Lea looked at David. "David... they're harmless. I mean..."
"I said I'd have to think about it," the aCEO said with finality, "besides I have work to do," he said as he turned to leave.
"What was that all about?" Lea said as the doors closed, "why is he acting like that?"
"Give him some time Healer," Elan said, "remember our friend has been through a lot as of late."
"But the crystals do not pose a threat or a danger," Lea harumped.
"That is true" Elan said, "but I'll have a talk with him later."
Lea frowned. She never thought David would be so closed minded. True he had been through a lot lately.
"Never mind you Elan," Lea said, "*I'll* talk to him," the CMO said as she left in pursuit of the aCEO.
