The young woman stood inside the turbolift an in the open doorway
leading onto the bridge… her emerald green eyes every so happy to see the
bridge of the ANUBIS bustling with activity. To many this time of the morning
would have been far too early but the redheaded woman had been pleased to see
that no member of her immediate crew had seemed bothered it. Maybe this had
been because they had returned onboard *their* ship, or because they had
been anxious to get underway and find out if they would be able to bring the
ship's ILO back from wherever she had been for the last while.
Whatever the general or individual reasons had been the young woman had
been happy to be back in command of *her* ship… having been an observer
onboard the HATHOR had not been without its charms, but the experience had
provided Rikar with a new found appreciation for the *big* chair.
"Captain on the Bridge!" The Shillian ExO announced as she noticed the
redheaded captain stepping onto the bridge, the announcement
immediately prompting all on deck to snap to attention.
"Thank you Commander." The young woman said as she nodded to the woman
who would be filling in the role of ExO for the duration of the mission.
It had been odd to see the CSciO dressed in the red colours of command, but
strangely it seemed to suit her well.
"All stations have already reported in… we are ready to go." Maya
proudly announced obviously having had some hand in getting the ship ready as
fast as it had.
"How is the ship?" The Captain inquired of the ANUBIS' new CEO. As of
the night before the ship had still required a great deal of work,
partially the cause for having the HATHOR tag along on the mission, but the
Oltharian's reputation for miracles had been well known and had led the young woman to hope that maybe her ship would not be as helpless as some had been led to believe.
"Propulsion, structural integrity and defensive tactical systems are
functioning at full capabilities… secondary systems on the other hand
are currently working only at 48%. All members of the engineering staff
are currently busy on the restoration of the top priority systems which
include long-range sensors and weapons. As soon as we are underway I will be
joining them." The towering giant reported in such a way as to make
the redheaded woman feel better despite the obvious fact that her ship had
been far from being ready to enter Cardassian space.
"Any signs of activity along the *Breen* border?" Rikar shot at her new
Chief of Security, unable to pass up the chance to tease the Marine 1st
Lieutenant for what he had been part of onboard of the HATHOR. As she
approached Pravat, Rikar made sure that the Enaran saw the genuine
smile on her pink lips so that he understood that her words had not been meant
as an attack, but as a way to welcoming him in his new role as the ANUBIS'
Sec/Tac officer.
"No Breen activity… but all Marines are on full stand-by ready for
*anything* or *anyone* who might think to pay us a visit." The MCO
announced as if wanting to reassure the redheaded woman that he would do
everything in his power to insure the safety of everyone onboard the ANUBIS.
Glad to see that the crew had been as ready and eager as could be, the
young woman turned her attention to the large empty chair located at the back
of the command pit set in front of the ExO's, Sec/Tac's and ILO's
stations… the latter being unmanned. Hopefully by the end of this mission the
holographic image of the ship's Intel Operative would be back, indicating that the woman in question had returned to them in flesh and blood.
As the young woman stepped down into the command pit she was surprise
to find the ANUBIS' new CMO there waiting for her, a rather nervous
expression painted on her features.
"Is everything alright Ens. Halliwell?" The Captain inquired of the
aCMO who had been placed in full charge of the ship's Sickbay for the duration
of their mission.
"Everything is fine… it's just that… well the first Sickbay that I
served in was that of the HATHOR's and to be honest the ANUBIS' Sickbay is a
little intimidating by its size." Elizabeth explained leaving out the details
about actually missing having Lt. Summers and Ens. Mei in close proximity.
"I remember feeling that way once… long ago." The young woman smiled as
she took her place in her chair while silently hoping that Ens. Halliwell
would be able to continue enjoying the tranquility of her department as this
would indicate that they had not met with any serious problems along the way.
"I will…" Elizabeth mumbled as she pointed with her finger to an
alternate location for her to stand at while the Captain took care of getting the ship underway.
"Hail the HATHOR." The CO ordered wanting to make sure that their
*escort* had also been ready to go.
[/\] Good morning Captain. [/\] Lt. Cmdr. Serenna said as her features
filled the large screen set at the front of the ANUBIS' command deck.
"Am I to gather by your good humour that you are ready to go?" Rikar
asked in a rather teasing manner, finding it strange to see her own ExO
standing on the bridge of another ship.
[/\] We have been ready for hours. [/\] The ANUBIS' former CEO and
current ExO/CEO of the HATHOR jumped in with sounding more than at ease in his
new role… or at least that had been the impression he had displayed for
those on this ship to see.
"Sorry for having kept you waiting…" The young woman offered before
ordering the channel closed with a nod of her head.
"I think he is liking in new role as the HATHOR's ExO." The CSciO and
ExO of the ANUBIS commented leaving the redheaded woman to recall the
conversation David and her had in her office the day before.
"Hail NEW ALEXANDRIA's Command Centre… Let's get this show underway." Rikar ordered as she felt a wave of nervousness swell within her soul… as heart-warming as the possibility had been to be able to return with her life-mate by the end of this mission, the young woman had also considered the alternate outcome… that their mission would fail and that they would be returning without the ship's ILO. That time though, there would not be the possibility of another loophole… if they failed this time, Enaii would be lost to them… forever.
[/\] ANUBIS… HATHOR… You are clear for departure… Good luck. [/\] The
base's COO, Commodore James. Simmons said, having opted to show himself to
both crews instead of just relaying their clearance via a third party or
even just through a computer signal.

"This is it… helm take us out… manoeuvring thrusters only." The half
Human, half Romulan CO ordered, the decision having already long been made
about the HATHOR taking point until they reached SURIAL III.
"Aye, aye… manoeuvring thrusters." Ens. Stormwind acknowledged glad to
be in the position that he was in had offering a silent prayer to his
spirit guide to help them in their mission.
"The ANUBIS has taken position behind us… reading them less than 2000
kilometres away." The Hirogen Sec/Tac reported as he kept a close watch
on the ship they had orders to protect during this mission.
"Establishing a remote link between our computer and theirs… this way
they will be able to directly monitor our sensor readings giving them ample
time to make whatever course corrections that might be needed to avoid
running into a Cardassian patrol." Ens. Kea reported already having been made
aware that the ANUBIS' long-range sensors had not yet been brought back to
full operating status.
"Well done… Steady as she goes." Lt. Cmdr. Serenna offered to the Ops Officer and FCO while at the same time shooting a glance in the direction of her ExO to make sure he had not decided to drop everything and run as fast as his feet would carry him.
"Yes I am sure." David playfully snarled as if he had heard the CO's
thoughts, the way she had looked at him having said it all.
==========
"Now clearing the outer rim of the GIZA Nebula. Also, the interlink
between the HATHOR and the ANUBIS is fully operations. We are receiving their
sensor telemetry." Annie, the ANUBIS' Avatar reported from the Ops
station. To her this mission had been like any other, the goal of bringing the ILO back not having been any different than going on an undercover mission
on some backwater world or heading into the heart of a terrorist
controlled region of space. The inability to feel anything had been something
that Annie had not felt to be a weakness in any way, allowing her to perform
all of her duties without hindrances.
"Alright… give the HATHOR a few seconds to get ahead and then set a
matching course and speed." The young woman ordered, not entirely liking the
idea of having the backseat but also aware that given the current state of the
ANUBIS this had been the safest course of action to follow.
==========
The bridge and rest of the ship having been as small as it was, the two women had opted to remain in Sickbay and keep each other company for the time being. Being the CMO and Cns of a small ship had made each of their tasks easier in many ways… unfortunately it had also given them each too much time to think about what they would soon be asked to face.
"Do you think *we* will be able to rescue Enaii?" The CMO inquired as
she fingers played on an empty hypospray, the fidgeting not having kept the
Doctor's thoughts away from the haunting question.
"I don't know… There has to be some chance of success of Admiral Koneki
would not have sent us there in the first place. That said though… I
could not even guess as to what the odds are."
"That's what I was worried about." Lea sighed, wanting for their 3-day
journey into Cardassian space to be done and over with as soon as
possible.
