The Bridge of the USS ANUBIS did not look all that
different when observed from the station of the First
Officer as compared to that of the Chief Science
Officer which was located on the platform at the back
of the deck. The proximity of the Shillian woman to
the Tactical station and the Enaran man assigned to
monitoring it had on the other hand proven to be a
change that the Chief Science Officer had found very
difficult to adjust to. Normally the Marine
Commanding Officer was rarely on the Bridge, but in
his new capacity as Chief of Security, First
Lieutenant Pravat had been required to be at his
station creating a distraction that the Shillian could
not ignore regardless of how hard she tried.
Had the Shillian woman felt joy or a sense of protection brought on by the presence of the Enaran so close to her, maybe the scientist would not have experienced any of the strange thoughts that had formed in her mind. Unfortunately the memories of the events that had taking place on the USS HATHOR had still been very fresh in the mind of the Chief Science Officer and those made her look at the Marine in an completely different way, one that instilled concerned and even fear.
As the First Officer of the ANUBIS the Shillian scientist had been required to deal with her discomfort for the benefit of the crew and of the mission, but the lack of experience in that role had made the task nearly impossible for the Shillian woman to do as she had been required to. Because of this Maya found herself looking at the Enaran more than she should and abruptly looking away when the Marine became aware of the intense look cast upon him and turned to meet the eyes of the Shillian.
After several minutes of repeated attempts to catch
the eyes of the First Officer with his own, the Enaran
decided to confront the woman if only to ask what had
been on her mind. Marine First Lieutenant Pravat
could easily imagine that the Shillian had been in one
form or another angry at him for what had transpired
onboard the USS HATHOR. If this required for him to
apologise for having followed the instructions of
Lieutenant Commander Serenna, who was at the time the
Commanding Officer, he would gladly do so if it would
ease the tension that had developed between them.
Although he had not been ready to openly admit it to
anyone including himself, the Marine felt diminished
by the simple thought that the Shillian might have
been holding some anger or disappointment towards him.
As Pravat turned to face the Shillian woman, the First
Officer of the USS ANUBIS spoke up, directing her next
words to the woman sitting in the chair directly in
front of her. "Captain, permission to step off the
bridge for a few moments, there are several issues
that I did not have the time to address prior to our
departure and I believe that right now would be the
best time to do so. I mean once we reach the
Cardassian border it will likely be too late not to
mention that everyone will be on the highest level of
alert and readiness."
Although the long request had failed to provide the
Captain with any actual details as to the request of
her First Officer, the Commanding Officer saw no
reason to deny the request and gave the Shillian woman
clearance to do as she had needed with a simple nod of
her head. The First Officer of the ANUBIS made a
rapid dash for the turbolift and left the Bridge
without as much as thanking the Commanding Officer for
her understanding or making any eye contact with the
baffled Chief of Security.

The Shillian woman had decided to come to the Black
Hole Lounge and take some time to think knowing that
as the Chief of Security there had been no place for
her to hide from Pravat should he truly want to find
her. At least here instead of in one of the science
labs the First Officer of the USS ANUBIS had not been
alone and would have an easier time to find an excuse
should one be required.
Instinctively, and having figured that it would have
been improper for the Executive Officer of the ship to
not be sociable, the Shillian woman approached Ens.
Halliwell who had motioned her to come closer.

"Your up quite early in the morning." Maya said sounding a bit sleepy, not because the Shillian had been tired but rather because her thoughts had still been lingering on the Enaran man she had left on the Bridge.
"Yeah, was just worried a bit." The CMO nodded.
"What where you worried about? I might not be a
counsellor like Ensing Mei but I sure know about
worried feelings and keeping them all to yourself."
Maya said seriously, trying her best to put all that
she had learned about being a First Officer to use.
"Well, I was thinking about if we encountered aliens and, you know we had to fight our way out of it," the CMO responded.
"Well, if you want to see how good your expertises
are, let's test them on the holodeck," the CSciO said
trying to relieve Elizabeth a little.
"That's a great idea!" The CMO let out.
"Well let's go! As far as I know nobody is in the
holodeck at the moment," The Lt. Commander suggested
happily. It was only after she had spoken that the
Shillian woman realised what she had offered.
"Well, uh, ok!" Liz smiled to the dismay of the Chief
Science Officer who had for a brief moment hoped that
the Chief Medical Officer would find a reason to turn
down the invitation.

Standing in the middle of the target practice program
Talia had created for the scientist as a thank you for
the numerous lessons received by the Chief Science
Officer, the Shillian woman could still not believe
that she had been holding and using a compression
riffle.
Luckily for both Ensign Halliwell and Lieutenant
Commander Maya the program had been set to its lowest
setting permitting both women to score high, something
that had actually taken the Chief Science Officer by
complete surprise. Never having been one to subscribe
to the ideas of using force, the Shillian had been
quite pleased with her performance on the subsequent
runs of the problem, so much so that at one point she
even thought about how proud Pravat would have been.
"Is everything all right?" Ensign Halliwell asked
after the Shillian woman had suddenly stopped.
The idea that Pravat might have been pleased with her
actions and success had hit the Shillian woman like a
runaway shuttle leaving the Chief Science Officer
speechless and at a complete loss as to explain to
Elizabeth what had just happened in her mind. After
several attempts to explain what had happened to no
avail the Shillian First Officer simply put her
compression riffle down and exited the holodeck
without saying a word, a course of action which
stunned the Chief Medcial Officer and left her
wondering as to what she had said or done.
