Setting: USS HATHOR, CO's Quarters
Stardate: 60341.0400

Laying on her bed the Romulan/Terran hybrid tried her best to get some rest using the knowledge of the demands of their mission as argument for her to be here in her quarters instead of up on the bridge. Having been told by the ship's CNS that she had looked tired and appeared to require rest had been bad enough, but to have the CMO and XO join in had been a little too much for the hybrid to take.

Knowing that each and every one of them had her best interest at heart though the HATHOR's CO had reluctantly agreed to take some time to rest leaving Lt. Dawson in charge of the ship and crew. Because of this the rest of the crew had believed the Romulan/Terran hybrid to unaware of the signal they had intercepted and relayed to the ANUBIS. Having been away from the bridge had in no way meant that the hybrid had relaxed her mental posture and through some minor instructions to the ship's computer, the CO had made certain to remain abreast of any new development.

Wanting to get back to the bridge to help with the processing of this latest discovery, the HATHOR's CO had gone against all of her instincts and training by remaining in her quarters. Giving David the chance to prove himself, not only to the rest of the crew but also to himself personally, had been something that needed to be done, and doing so now had been more preferable than in the heat of battle. Surviving after all that he had been through as of late had already been a notable mark on Dawson's record, but the facts remained that because of his past actions there had been a need for him to redeem himself in the eyes of those who were closest to him. With this in mind, and not wanting to get a lashing from the ship's CMO and CNS should she return to the bridge, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had remained in her quarters and waited.

Waiting for either a signal from the computer or a communication from anyone on the bridge, the Romulan/Terran hybrid laid on her bed with her eyes trained on the ceiling. Thinking back to her days as the ANUBIS' XO, which had not been all that far behind her, the hybrid realised just how confident Captain Rikar had been in her First Officer for having given her the opportunity that she now enjoyed. Being in command of a ship for more than a few hours at a time had proven to be a far more challenging task than the hybrid could have ever expected it to be, making her hope that David was doing all right.

Having been trying to unsuccessfully rest for the past several hours, the Romulan/Terran got up and decided to stretch her legs in the corridors of the deck, her quarters having been too small for such an activity. Stepping out into the corridor, the HATHOR's CO almost ran into the ship's CNS who had been coming from the bridge and had been on her way to the turbolift. Smiling at the CO, Ens. Mei gave a wry look at the hybrid as she spoke, "Sleep walking Captain?"

Not wanting to reveal that she had been aware of the situation, which would have admitted to Ens. Mei that their CO had not rested since her departure from the bridge, the hybrid kept her questions as to the intercepted signal to herself. Trying her best to look *tired*, as if she had just awakened from a short nap, the Romulan/Terran hybrid tried to strike a conversation with the CNS which might lead to the current situation. "Woke up and decided to stretch my legs a little. Is everything all right on the bridge? Anything new and interesting happened?"

Narrowing her eyes ever so slightly, the HATHOR's CNS glared as much as she could get away with at the ship's CO leading the Romulan/Terran hybrid to return the gesture which caused Ens. Mei to suddenly stop. "I'm sorry Captain; I have no right to believe that you were just now telling me a fib. I will let Lt. Dawson explain the situation to you."

Realizing that she had not been as good of an actress as she might have hoped to be, the HATHOR's CO decided that honesty would best serve her at this time, if only to keep the CNS in good favour. "Well done CNS, you were right and I was not resting. I am aware of the intercepted signal and that it had been forwarded to the ANUBIS. Have we found out anything more?"

Grinning inwardly at the realisation that she had been correct in her assessment of the CO, Ens. Mei tried not to let her pride show and actually found the hybrid's honesty endearing. "We have not; the images were very badly distorted do to the weakness of the signal and the static that accompanied it. We are hoping that the ANUBIS will have better luck."

Nodding her understanding, the HATHOR's CO moved on to the next question which weighed on her mind. "What about David? How is he doing?"

Glancing over her shoulder and looking at the door which led to the HATHOR's bridge, the ship's CNS seemed to carefully chose her words as if not wanting to say something that might give the Romulan/Terran hybrid the wrong impression as to the XO's performance up to this point. "David is calm and focussed on the tasks at hand."

Listening carefully to the reply given by Ens. Mei, the Romulan/Terran hybrid could only guess as to the exact performance of her XO while he was in command, but since the CNS had not said anything negative the CO decided to see the report as a good one. Nodding to the woman, the HATHOR's CO dismissed the CNS and returned to her quarters as if she had never been there in the first place.
