Although the sensors of the USS ANUBIS had been unable to locate any of the Imperians onboard the HATHOR, the CSciO had found to have no problems in keeping track of the Starfleet personnel onboard that ship, and more precisely a certain Enaran Marine who had only recently beamed over along with his entire battalion. As the Executive Officer the scientist had an invested interest in following the progress of their assault team, but the Shillian had found her concerns solely directed towards the Marine First Lieutenant, his last words to her endlessly echoing in her mind, and in her heart.
With her eyes cast down on her consol, the Shillian
woman found herself reliving the seconds preceding the
departure of the Marine as if desperately trying to
figure out if she had dreamt this or if Pravat had
indeed said what the scientist had thought she had
heard him say. Maybe if the Enaran had been more
eloquent in his expressing of his feelings Maya would
not have questioned the significance of the words,
instead trying to insure that she had simply heard
correctly.
"Have we been able to raise the HATHOR?" Captain
Rikar asked, looking back to the station of the
Executive Officer which had been located directly
behind her chair at the center of the Bridge. Despite
the relatively short distance between the Captain and
her Executive Officer, the question had seemed to have
been unable to reach the Shillian who had been
engrossed in watching her monitors. "Maya?" the
Commanding Officer said with a little more force which
caused the Chief Science Officer to suddenly realised
that she had missed something.
"According to our sensors," the Shillian scientist
reported at once, "Lieutenant Pravat and his men have
successfully beamed over to the HATHOR and have joined
forces with Ensign Uxtar and one other member of the
crew. Based on the bio-readings I would guess that
the second individual is Doctor Summers, the heart
rate clearly being indicative of a Human female, of
course this does not preclude the possibility that the
Officer who had been with Ensign Uxtar is not ensign
Mei, but I have a better time accepting that Commander
Serenna would have sent the Chief Medical Officer
instead of the Head Counsellor. Sensors have also
picked up Ensign Stormwind in the shuttle bay inside
of the DRAGONSEYE alone with other members of the
crew, and according to some of these readings some of
them are in dire need of medical attention."
Captain Rikar could not help but smile for a brief
moment, accepting the detailed answer to a question
that she had not asked. "Bridge to Doctor Halliwell…
have your medical team stand-by to receive casualties
from the HATHOR," the Commanding Officer said before
turning to Annie and giving the rest of the
instructions to the Avatar of the ANUBIS. "Lock
transporters on those with life-threatening injuries
and beam them directly to Sickbay, then try to get
some kind of message to the HATHOR to let them know
that we have done this. The last thing we need is for
anyone to start thinking that the Imperians have
captured members of their crew."
"I will try to establish a computer link-up with the
HATHOR since ship-to-ship communications are not
operational," Annie explained, her hands never
touching the Flight Control consol, the Avatar instead
having decided to use the faster *direct link* she
enjoyed with the systems of the USS ANUBIS.
=/\= Halliwell to Bridge, =/\= the Assistant Chief
Medical Officer began, =/\= confirming the arrival of
two severally injured crew members from the HATHOR,"
the Doctor said the sound of shuffling bodies clearly
audible in the background.
"Understood Doctor," the captain acknowledged, "keep
me informed of your progress and be ready, we might
have a few more bodies heading your way."
=/\= Understood, =/\= the Assistant Chief Medical
officer replied already hard at work on taking care of
her new patients.
"That takes care of one problem," Captain Rikar said turning back to look at the Shillian woman once again. "What else do we know about the status of the HATHOR?"
"Based on the damage to the outer hull," the acting
Executive Officer replied, "it appears that the
Imperian *probes* are actually boarding crafts
designed to penetrate the defences of a ship and
deliver the robot inside in order for them to carry
out their task."
The Oltharian, who had come to the bridge to assist
with the investigation into the status of the HATHOR,
nodded in quasi-admiration. "As much as I may dislike
the race and their purpose, I must admit that this is
a very effective and efficient method, one that has
the added advantage of focussing their efforts onto
the destruction of their primary target."
"True," the Commanding Officer noted, "but this also
gives us an additional insight into their methods and
possibly gives us another way to defend ourselves
against them."
"If we could find a way to keep these boarding pods
from penetrating inside of a ship, we would avoid
having to deal with them on an individual basis," the
Shillian scientist added, thinking that the task of
finding a way to accomplish this would likely be more
difficult than it had sounded. While thinking about
possible ways of disabling the boarding pods, the
Chief Science Officer thought of the Enaran Marine and
the modified weapons they had been supplied with, the
Shillian hoping with all of her heart that they had
been sufficient and would keep the Marine Commanding
Officer safe during his reclaiming of the HATHOR.
