Setting: USS HATHOR, Sickbay
The storm had passed, or at least that had been the impression Lea and
Susan had gotten. For the last little while the HATHOR had not been
turning and twisting as much as it had been. This had made life easier
for the CMO and Cns who had finally been given a break before being
given *a break*.
"I wonder if this is the calm before the storm?" Susan wondered out
loud which made Lea suddenly spin on her heels.
"Excuse me? What would you call what we went through?" Lea huffed.
The CMO appeared quite peeved by her friend's comment. The number of
bruises covering Lea's body had been more then proof enough of the ordeal
they had both endured.
"I didn't mean it that way," Susan replied always the counsellor.
Defusing tense situations had become second nature to the Cns, and it
showed in her tone and posture. "As rough as what we went through might
have been, you and I both know that it could have been worse. The ship
was not boarded and the list of injuries only extends to a few bruises."
"The majority of which are here," the CMO chuckled dryly as she pulled
up her right sleeve to display the marks in question. Someone like
Pravat or Uxtar would have been more than happy to have such *badgesof
honour* on them. Lea on the other hand had found the black and blue
markings to be unsavoury. Not to mention slightly painful.
The sound of the door to Sickbay opening drew the attention of both
women who instinctively jumped to their feet. It was with great relief
that Lea and Susan saw the imposing CEO standing in the doorway, a smile
on his face.
"Just dropped in to see if everything was alright," the ExO/CEO said
adding a wink and smile as he looked at Lea.
"We are fine," Susan replied while trying to remain oblivious to the
unspoken exchanged between the CMO and CEO. "Although lea is less than
impressed by Derek's flying methods."
"I thought he was doing pretty good," David pointed out while looking
at Lea with puzzlement.
"Good if you were on the bridge maybe," the CMO hissed playfully. "For
us girls stuck in here, it was a game of *bounced* around the walls."
"Well you might want to get back to *that* game," David sighed.
Something had happened and the CEO had obviously come down to the lower decks
to inform them of it. "We picked up a Cardassian freighter not too far
from us," the ExO/CEO said sounding torn.
"What's the problem?" Susan asked curious as to why David had sounded
so troubled by this. As the ship's Cns she knew of the CEO's disliked
Cardassian to put it mildly.
"The Imperians must have been tired of chasing us all across this
sector. They spotted the Cardassians freighter and altered course to
intercept it," David said narrowing his eyes.
"Are we going to help them?" Lea asked certain that her current sickbay
would not be adequate to deal with what they might find.
"No," David replied without hesitation. "Serenna does not want to risk
us getting caught in the middle. We are staying within visual range of
the freighter since our sensors do not work and we are waiting."
"Waiting for what?" Susan blasted. "For those robots to kill everyone
onboard that friehgter?"
"That and to see if this diversion will have made the Imperians forget
about SURIAL III."
