Setting: USS ANUBIS, Black Hole Lounge
Stardate: 60344.1045

Lea had been so distraught that she didn't remember when Uxtar and Derek had joined her at the table. Worse the CMO could not remember what either one had said when they had left her to be alone. Had they felt sorry and decided that it had been best for her to work this out on her own? The more Lea tried to figure it out the more she realised that she didn't care. The Sec/Tac and FCO were both grown men and they could do whatever they wanted.

Visions of that small box haunted Lea's every thoughts. How could she have been so foolish as to believe that David might have wanted to propose to her? True the two of them had shared some time together and it had seemed as if they had *connected*. As Derek might have said though, logically this did not mean that the CEO had been ready for marriage.

"What happened?" Susan asked as she quickly sat down in front of her friend. The ANUBIS' Cns looked like she had ran the full length of the ship to get here. Worse, the look in Susan's eyes made Lea wonder if someone's life had been in jeopardy.

"Nothing," the CMO replied. "I tried everything I could think of but she didn't respond," Lea explained.

"SHE?" Susan said with a gasp. "What on earth were you and David up to?" the CMO's friend demanded certain that there had to be some misunderstanding.

"David? What does he have to do with Enaii?" Lea asked in return. "He came to the base's Infirmary to bring me to the holodeck. He had nothing to do with Enaii or her continued state."

"Hold on for a minute," Susan said as she appeared more confused then ever. "Maybe it might be a good idea for you to start at the beginning."

Unsure as to what had triggered all of this Lea began to recount the events that had led her here. Had the person sitting in front of her been anyone other than her friend Susan, Lea might not have been so forthcoming with the details. As the CMO spoke about the small box, her expectations and the bio-isoleniar chip that had been inside, tears once again began to form in Lea's eyes.

"I know," Lea sobbed. "I raised my hopes without cause. It was just that the scene seemed perfect and it had just made sense. At least sense to me at the time, now I feel like such a fool."

"And so you should," Susan said in a half chuckle. "That little misunderstanding has snowballed into the prelude to the next intergalactic conflict onboard the ANUBIS."

Now it had been Lea's turn to be confused. "What do you mean? I have no intention of going after David for what happened. It was my fault. I jumped to the conclusion and there is no one else to blame but me."

"I am glad that you think that way," the Cns said as she tapped her friend's hand. "Now you have to say those exact words to Uxtar and Derek."

"Uxtar? Derek? What do they have to do with David and me?" Lea asked as she dried her tears.

"I overheard them talking about David, what he had done to you and how they were going to have a *man-to-man* talk with him. What I am really worried about is that Uxtar did not seem to be all that much in a talkative mood," Susan explained.

"The two of them were here," the CMO recalled. "I don't exactly remember what I said but they just left. I thought they wanted to leave me to deal with this on my own."

"It looks like you have a couple of overzealous *knights* at your service," Susan said as she laughed. "I think it would be best if we caught up to them before they corner David. Just in case."

Lea nodded full complete agreement and the two women dashed out of the Black Hole Lounge. The CMO only wished that she could remember what she had said to bring this on, but now it didn't matter. What Susan and lea needed to do was to find Uxtar and Derek and resolve this issue before it escalated into something truly serious.
