Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
As the CEO made his final check on the warp core,
impulse engines, the ANUBIS' computer, secondary and
back up systems he was pleased that the combined
effort of both his staff and the bases' staff had pulled
the ANUBIS back into one piece. Several key systems
had received upgrades... ones the CEO had been
stressing ever since he stepped foot onto the
engineering deck of the SCARAB-class cruiser. As he
was sending a report to Commander Jack Foley, his comm
badge bleeped.
=/\= Summers to Lieutenant Dawson. =/\=
David tapped his badge, "Yes Doctor?"
=/\= Is *someone* coming to fix biobed 3?! The scanners
are still saying that there's a hole in it. =/\=
"I'll have someone on it ASAP. Dawson out," and that
made the CEO wonder, "computer, locate Ensign Norheim."
=/\= Ensign Norheim is in cargo bay 4. =/\=
"Why the hell is he in cargo bay 4?!" David said
rising out of his seat. The ExO glanced in the
direction of her former Academy classmate.
"Problems Lieutenant?" the Romulan/Terran hybrid asked.
"No Commander... hopefully not," he replied as he stepped onto the lift.
===================================
"Set it there... and make room for the larger baskets.
We need to get this stuff situated before we depart,"
Ensign Norheim said to Ensign Watkins as she took back
the PADD the aCEO signed off on. The newest addition
to the ANUBIS looked the deck over and nodded.
Satisfied with what he saw he turned to leave...
...and ran smack dab into a man mountain.
"Um... Lieutenant Dawson... sir... I was just about to contact you."
"Really" David replied, "question for you Ensign."
The junior officer nodded.
"What are you doing here?"
"Stocking the last of our supplies sir," Norheim
replied as he handed David a PADD, "we just received
the last of the supplies and I thought to put them
here..."
"Instead of Cargo Bay 2 where I told you to put them?"
the CEO replied.
Norheim smirked and his eyes darted back and forth in
his head. Cargo Bay 2 was the place he placed his
prototypes and new designs and he had hoped that his
new supervisor hadn't found them yet.
"Well, to tell you the truth Lieutenant cargo bay 2
was full. There wasn't much room to work with so I
took it upon myself to place the supplies here."
::Pleaseohpleaseohplease,:: Mattias pleaded with
himself hoping that Dawson would be pleased with his
decision. David noticed that his assistant was
fidgeting somewhat which caused the CEO's eyes to
narrow. But he remembered what it was like to be the
junior officer and assistant in engineering when he
was Copper's assistant. How nervous it can be when you
first come on board so the CEO decided to let his
suspisions go... for now.
"Well, no harm no foul. Finish up here then double
time it to Sickbay. Doctor Summers is having problems
with the scanners on biobed 3 and I'd like that
problem solved before we depart." David said.
"Um... not trying to sound funny or anything, but if
there's actually no hole in the bed the why the fuss?"
Norheim asked.
"Would you like to lay on that bed and have the
scanners tell Lea that there's a hole in you?" David
asked as he turned and exited the cargo bay.
"Point taken sir," Mattias said.
"Just get it done Ensign," David replied as the doors
to the bay closed. Once outside, the massive CEO
scratched his bearded chin.
"Cargo Bay 2 is a utility area. There should have been
plenty of room..." he thought outloud then shook his
head as his badge bleeped again.
=/\= Summers to Lieutenant Dawson... I still have a hole
in biobed 3. =/\=
David tapped his badge, "Well if its big enough, climb
in until my assistant gets there and that'll solve
your problem for right now." David teased.
=/\= I'll remember that the next time I'm scheduled to
check the mechanical side of your heart... which if
memory serves me correctly, that's today at 1300
hours. =/\=
::Dammit,:: David thought, ::thought we'd already done
that,:: he thought to himself, "Um... Lea... could we
resch..."
=/\= No David. Absolutely not. Right before
your... apparent death I caught hell trying to keep up
the nanite production and that's something we need to
look at. Now, as ships CMO I *could* make that an
order, but if you're on time I have a surprise for
you. =/\=
That got David's attention. "A surprise?"
=/\= Yes... and don't ask. If you want to know what it
is, get my biobed fixed and be here by 1300. Summers
out. =/\=
David shook his head as the lift doors opened as he
headed back to the bridge.
