The away team of the USS ANUBIS had been dragged down from the majestic guest quarters to the lowest levels of the Royal Palace and thrown in groups of twos into small separate cells which smelled just as bad as the sewers of the city. The Chief Science Officer had not wanted to but she had perceived a hint of decaying flesh in the stagnant air which made the entire location even more sickening than the sewers had been. The only respite the Shillian could find from their present ordeals had been found in the pain she had fought back thanks to the previous help of the half Vulcan Flight Control Officer, Ensign Stormwind and the current efforts of the Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Summers.
"This is the best I can do for the time being," Doctor Summers said as she injected the Chief Science Officer with the last of the hypospray content that she had been able to keep with her, the guards who had dragged them all here having takien anything and everything which they though might be used to help in an escape attempt. The Chief Medical Officer had been quick enough to hide a single hypospray, but now the Medical Officer wished that she could have done more to help the Shillian woman.
[[Doctor, is Maya all right?]] Captain Rikar asked from another cell, the echo of her voice making it almost seem as if she and the others had been kilometres away.
"She is fine for the moment, but it would be nice if I could have access to the equipment in Sickbay," the Chief Medical Officer replied only momentarily having taken her eyes away from her patient to look at the sealed door which had been closed behind the two women. "At this rate," the Doctor added, "I would be happy to have my field kit back or even anything that passes as medication in this place."
[[ I am sure that all will be made right the moment we get to speak to the King and explain that this is all an unfortunate misunderstanding,]] Captain Rikar said, her rank and responsibilities having forced her to remain optimistic in a possible diplomatic solution to this dilemma.
[[I doubt the guards are in any rush to get us to see the King,]] Uxtar, the Hirogen Chief of Security added from what appeared to be a third cell, due to the fact that his voice had seemed to come from an entirely different direction than that of the Captain.
[[As much as I hate to admit it, I believe that Uxtar may be correct,]] the half Human, half Romulan Executive Officer added in what could have been described as an almost *Vulcan* tone, her voice having come from the same general direction as that of the Commanding Officer although it had seemed to emanate from even further. [[Given what I have observed of this culture, it is more likely that we will be kept here to be interrogated as to the whereabouts of the Princess. Logic dictates that we may only get to see the King if and when we offer something of interest to him.]]
[[I can just imagine that our telling him that this is a mistake will not be something he will be interested in hearing,]] Lieutenant Dawson, the Chief Engineering Officer of the USS ANUBIS added, the direction from which his voice had come from had hinted that the Engineer had been thrown in the same cell as the Hirogen, placing the two giants together.
[[We have to keep our faith in diplomacy,]] Captain Rikar reaffirmed although she knew that their best chance for getting out of their situation in one piece rested in those officer who had not been captured and brought down to the cold and damp seclusion of the dungeon.
"Where are Derek and Susan?" the Shillian scientist asked in a weakened voice not having heard either of their voices during the conversation that had been taken place.
"I am not sure how, but they both managed to escape capture," the Chief Medical Officer quickly replied in a whispered voice as she rushed to the side of her patient. The only true advantage the Flight Control Officer and Counsellor possessed had been their present freedom and hopefully the fact that the guards had not been searching for them. Maybe the guards had not paid enough attention to realise that they had not taken into custody the entire team that had beamed down from the USS ANUBIS.
"My guess is that Lieutenant Commander Enaii also escaped capture," the Shillian grinned, her smile having lasted only a brief moment as the medication provided by the Chief Medical Officer kicked in fully and knocked the scientist out in order to help facilitate her own healing process.
"Our fates and maybe our very lives may rest in their hands," the Doctor sighed while she hoped to see this situation resolved quickly and with the least possible amount of injuries on both sides.
