Derek stood in the small sonic shower trying to rid himself of the stench he had acquired while running through the sewers with Maya and the ILO. They had escaped one trap only to fall into another. Only Ensign Mei and he had managed to escape that trap, leaving the rest of the away team to be arrested and jailed. But they too had been snared once again onboard the DRAGONSEYE by an apparent member of an underground organization. Susan's quick thinking allowed them to turn the tables on their captor who was even now trying to make contact with his higher authority.
Delph Knorr was an ex-agent of the IRRAJIAN Secret Police or Secret Service. An ex-Commander of the Royal Guards with whose knowledge might help them get the Away team out of jail.
Stormwind stepped out of the shower and sat on the small bed as his mind traveled to the one other person aboard, the only person he had ever trusted to enter his mind, Ensign Mei. Certainly at the time he had felt it important in that she had to report on him to the Captain. He had even let her get a glimpse of the chaos of his human side, the uncontrolled emotions that he fought daily. In so doing he felt he had to do something he had never done, and in fact had promised her he would not do. He had touched her mind… only enough to sooth it and remove the chaotic images he had allowed her to see, but still how will she react when she learns the truth.
The one thing that bothered Derek was the resurgence of emotions he was sure he had buried many years ago. It was not unknown for Vulcan's to have emotions they just did not allow them to surface except in special ceremonies on VULCAN. This same structure did not apply to the numerous half breeds such as him.
Love was not unknown to him; he had made an exhaustive study of this emotion when he was younger. At a time when he was still controlled more by his human half than his Vulcan side. Based on that study he would have to say that his current reactions to Susan most definitely placed him in the enviable position of being in love with her, but that was not possible. Granted when he was close to her he could feel minor physiological changes that he often thought of her at odd moments. But being in love with her… not possible. He did not believe in love at first sight or even infatuation… besides they hardly knew each other. Based on those facts he would have to be in love with most of the crew! But he just could not discount the facts or the feelings. There was only one way to be sure… that was to let her return into his mind and to remove the block placed upon her memory.
The FCO dressed and returned to the pilot's cabin only to find Susan and Delph in a heated discussion. "Excuse me what is the problem?" he asked
"I was trying to explain to her Ladyship that I cannot raise my cell leader," stated Delph. "I have a feeling he has done something rash and is trying to leave the planet."
Could you explain this conclusion Commander?" asked Derek.
"This is hard to explain… before I quit the service I was responsible for the Princess Adeja. During my tenure I made the mistake of introducing her to a childhood friend of mine… Rehaw. They became very close. But you have seen our system, she was a princess and he was but a commoner so there was no hope. They did not care. You never asked what our underground was all about." Delph paused.
In full Vulcan mode Derek gazed at the IRRAJIAN, "Well I don't think we have time for the full history how about the highlights sir."
"It started about a year ago… the King became reclusive, the Royal Guards began training with new and unfamiliar weapons. The palace became a virtual prison to everyone. Than it was announced that the Princess was to marry an OFF WORLDER!! Delph was livid as he spoke. "This was unheard of; many people were not only offended but mad. But when they attempted to see the King as is their right the Royal Guards were ordered to attack them. To my shame I let the first attack. That's when Rehaw told me of the movement to dismantle the cast system. If as I believe he and the Princess are trying to escape they might run into trouble with the warship in orbit.
"Can you release my communications and trust me Commander?" asked the FCO.
Reaching into his packet Delph pulled out a small device, looking at both Susan and the Vulcan his body gave a soft shrug he keyed in a code. "The ship is yours." He stated flatly.
Derek moved to the communications console and using a tight beam called the ANUBIS.
"DRAGONSEYE to ANUBIS… Be advised possible cloaked ship in your vicinity; use extreme caution, Princess Adeja and companion suspected to be aboard…"
