Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
The day before Uxtar had been asked by the ship's Cns to erase all traces of the program that Doctor Summers had made use of in the holodeck. The Hirogen Hunter had been more than willing to help but the unexpected arrival of the ILO in the holodeck had thwarted that plan. The Sec/Tac officer could have spent the next several hours wondering about what would come of this but instead he had joined his friend Derek in the Black Hole Lounge and indulged in some of the finest the bar had to offer.
"It's on days like this that you truly appreciate the advantages of synthahol," the half Vulcan, half Human FCO mumbled as he walked by the tactical station to check something with the Oltharian who had taken over the role of CEO. Uxtar chuckled to himself, the Hirogen not having entirely recuperated from their over indulgence from the night before.
"Just keep the ship on course," the Sec/Tac officer whispered back to the FCO as he walked back to the helm, but what the Hirogen had failed to realize was that he had spoken louder than he had intended allowing the CO to overhear his words.
"Is there a problem?" Rikar asked from her seat in the middle of the bridge, her green eyes diligently following the FCO as he returned to his station.
"No Ma'am," the FCO replied quickly, "the ANUBIS is on course and will
be arriving at NEW ALEXANDRIA in 5 hours and 17 minutes."
Uxtar grinned in amazement at the way the hybrid could switch so easily
from being a flawed and feeling Human to being a cold and calculating
Vulcan. The Hiorgen carefully watched to see the CO's reaction in an
effort to see if Derek's fears about Rikar hating him had been in any
way, shape or form founded or simply a figment of the FCO's imagination.
Despite the Hirogen Hunter's skills Uxtar had been unable to decipher the CO's body language enough to support or refute Derek's claim leaving the Sec/Tac officer wishing that Susan had been around. As the ANUBIS' Cns maybe she would have had better luck in figuring out if Captain Rikar had in fact held any type of malice towards the FCO as he so adamantly believed.
The arrival of a new report from IRRAJ drew Uxtar's attention away from
the FCO and back to his instruments. "Captain, we are receiving an
update on the situation on IRRAJ," the Hirogen said while reading the
headlines of the report that had been transmitted from traders leaving
the planet. "Shall I relay this to the IGC?"
"We already know," Enaii said as she made her way around the Hirogen as
if she had materialized out of thin air right behind the Sec/Tac
officer. Had Uxtar kept up with the Hunter training of his forefathers
he might have turned and attacked the ILO simply because she had
surprised him, but luckily Uxtar's Federation training had dulled this
natural reflex. Judging by the expression on Enaii's face though the
ILO had seemed almost disappointed in the Hirogen's lack of reaction.
"Is there something wrong?" The captain asked after having noticed the
ILO standing at her station apparently pondering something important.
Enaii replied by heading for the CO's Ready Room and disappearing within leaving the Captain with little other choice but to follow and find out
what was going on.
