Setting: Corridor outside of Medical

It had taken Stormwind almost five hours to regain control of his human side and its raging emotions. Luckily he had managed to secure the DRAGONSEYE so only its interior walls were damaged by his emotional outburst. But during this period he had reached a decision. Once he had access to his Vulcan side he had entered a pure meditative state allowing him to once again enter the ordered library of his mind. Going to the steel door behind which he kept his human side… he proceeded to strengthen the door and its security systems, adding a second door of greater strength.

The only outward difference in Derek's appearance was that he stood straighter with a true Vulcan style of dignity, and his face no longer had any softness to it. If you did not know him he was pure Vulcan. Keying the door he entered Medical.

The CMO turned at the hiss of the corridor door and watched as the tall Vulcan entered.

"Ensign…?" Lea asked quizzically.

"Doctor," the FCO answered with a slight bow. "I wonder if I could prevail upon your time to give me a complete physical."

Taken aback at the very proper tone she answered, "You are not scheduled for a physical for quite some time yet, is there a specific problem?"

"Due to recent events, and some personal decisions, logic dictates that I verify my fitness to perform my duties as assigned. I am sure that the Captain would like to be assured of my fitness." Derek answered in a very stoic manner.

"Very well Ensign lay down on the main biobed and we will proceed." The doctor answered. But there was something off about this. Lea remembered when she had first examined Stormwind. At that time she had commented to Susan how unlike a Vulcan he was, yet the man before her was definitely Vulcan in all his mannerisms. Something had changed but she could not put a finger to it.

Thirty minutes later Derek stood before the doctor and waited.

Lea looked up from the PADD in her hands and smiled her best smile.

"Well Ensign Stormwind you will be happy to know you are in fine health, high body temperature and all. I see no reason for you not to be able to perform your duties."

"Thank you Doctor Summers." Said Derek once again giving a slight bow, without another word or acknowledgement he turned and left the room.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

Uxtar was worried about his friend. The order to ground the FCO from single ship operations had come to him earlier. As SEC/TAC it was normal for him to see these types of orders but he never expected to see one regarding the Vulcan. As a fellow pilot he knew this would hit Derek hard. Contrary to what many believed Vulcan's do have emotions, they have just stylized and made them ritualistic. Every emotion had a ritual associated with it and a time for it.

But Derek was different; being half human his emotional control was skewed. Aside from the fact that he was almost two completely separate people, though only Uxtar and Ensign Mei actually knew that fact. The SEC/TAC turned as the main doors hissed open.

The FCO walk almost stately onto the bridge and to his station where he quickly and efficiently relieved the crewman on duty.

Uxtar was a little surprised at his arrival, since he was not on duty for another few hours. He walked over to his friend.

In a hushed tone, or what passed for one for a Hirogen he said. "My friend, I heard of your orders, perhaps you would care to go have a drink before …"

Slowly spinning his chair to face the big Hirogen the pony-tailed Vulcan answered. "I see no logic in your suggestion. There is much work to do prior to our next assignment. As to my orders, the situation makes their issue a logical outcome. If you will excuse me Ensign I shall return to my duties." and slowly turned his chair back to his control boards.

Straightening up the big SEC/TAC returned to his own station. His mind churning on the very obvious change in his friend, a change he knew was not good. But what could he do? As his friend would say the logical thing was to pass the information on to the ships counselor Ensign Mei but with what had happened between them … Uxtar was in a quandary.

Yet if the big Hirogen had just glanced around the bridge he would have seen that the little interplay between the two friends had not gone unnoticed.
