Stardate: 61017.1910
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Ensign Akira Mitshiba's Quarters

Brushing her hair in preparation for her meeting with Ensign Thomas, Aki remembered fondly the time she and Elliot had spent in the classes they had shared back at Starfleet Academy. It had been truly unexpected to find him onboard the ANUBIS, and given the way their last day together had come to pass, Akira had not been all that certain that there being on the same ship had been a good thing.

::Real life has a way of changing your perception of places and people,:: Aki silently remembered an Instructor saying which made her smile. If real life had been the only problem she would have likely not been here on this secret ship operating from a secret base waiting to go on a secret mission that no one knew anything about. Real life did have a way of making things more complicated then they needed to be.

Akira elegantly walked in, not at all giving the slightest hint as to the mad rush the Ensign had performed in order to get here on time. The only proofs she had left behind as a statement of her performance had been a single footprint on one of the sidewalls and a bewildered crewman who had nearly been knocked off his feet when Akira had made a sharp turn down one of the corridors.

"You are looking well," Elliot said as he stood from his chair and in true gentleman form went around the table to pull Aki's chairs out for her.

"So do you," Akira stated in return. She had been a little disappointed that Elliot had decided to make this to be so formal, but then she had not expected him to drop to his knees and beg the moment she had walked into the room.

"I took the liberty of ordering for us, I hope that you won't mind?" Elliot said as he motioned the waitress to bring the order that he had earlier given. Ensign Thomas knew that his companion for the evening enjoyed her independence but he had also known her to respond rather well to old fashion charm, hence why he had pulled out the chair for her.

"So," Aki said as she placed her elbows on the table, "how are the girls? Still giving you a hard time?"

"Teenagers will be teenagers," Elliot chuckled. "They miss you," he added and immediately regretted having said those words. It was true that Samantha and Alice enjoyed Aki's presence, mainly because she had never treated them as kids but rather as young women, but there had been no reason for him to say what he had this early in their discussion.

"They don't miss me,' Akira said with a gentle shake of her head, "they miss that I brought them to do deep-sea diving, mountain climbing or some other breakneck activity which had you as nervous as could be. I have no idea how many uniform shirts you had to replace because of me."

"Let's just say that I was glad that I had a replicator nearby," Elliot said laughing. So far their meeting had gone far better than he had expected, for which he was very thankful since he did not have a change of shirt handy at the moment.

"You do realize that since we are on the same ship you won't be able to avoid coming with me to Mount Fuji for a mountain climbing session," Aki said as she took a sip of her drink.

"I highly doubt that the Captain will authorize a visit to EARTH any time soon," Elliot stated in return with a certain air of victory. "We are on an Intel ship after all."

"Elliot?"

"Yes Aki?"

"Intel ship maybe, but as the Ops officer of that ship you of all people should know the extent of the technology that is available to us. Namely the holodecks in the array section of the ANUBIS. Lt. Cmdr. Maya was more than kind enough to provide me with the technical specifications of these holodecks and a list of the training programs that are available. You can imagine how happy I was when I noticed that there was a recreation of the northern face of Mount Fuji."

"The *northern* face?" Elliot said with a gulp. "Guess I can always locate the appropriate computer file and hope that it somehow got corrupted."

"You wouldn't dare," Aki stated with firmness as she cast a challenging glare in the other Ensign's direction.

"You are right," Elliot grinned. "The girls would never forgive me."

The two Ensigns smiled at each other, both thankful that their reunion had apparently gone much better then when they had parted ways not so long ago back on EARTH.
