Ensign Thomas was busy working at the environmental systems station, making sure that all the processes that were running to keep the life support running on all decks were kept to less than 5% as instructed by the Vulcan FCO. This was not an easy target to meet as he shifted power and life support around each deck grid by grid the power levels were starting to fluctuate, trying to keep the grids stable at such a low power level was becoming increasingly difficult.
Approximately 2hrs later Elliot had managed to get the complete ship to sustain life support and minimal lighting. The happy Ensign raised his hand to his badge. "Ensign Thomas to Lieutenant Stormwind please acknowledge?"
=^= Lieutenant Stormwind here! =^=
"Sir, we now have life support and minimal lighting on all decks and we are using 4.89% of our power resources, under the 5% as requested."
=^= Very good Ensign, please inform the Captain of our progress, and can you have the power monitoried. =^=
"OK. I'll do that immediately."
Elliot called one of the operations crewmen over to monitor the power and alert him if it increased, while he could go and give a full report to the captain.
Elliot approached the Captain's ready room and touched the door sensor. A rather garbled and distorted slow bing bong chime sounded, followed by a commanding lady's voice stating "Enter!".
"Hello, Captain," Ensign Thomas said in a quiet but authoritative voice as he approached the red headed lady's desk.
"Ahh Hello there, Ensign Thomas isn't it. We really haven't had much time to chat since we have been on board have we Ensign? and I would offer you a drink but the replicators at present are out of order." the Captain replied with a smile as she stood up and shook the Ensigns hand. She then continued "OK, I'm guessing with the limited illumination in my ready
room you're here with some good news?"
"I believe so," Elliot said as he handed a PADD to Captain Rikar which had his complete report on how the situation stood regarding the 5% power issue, and it also included his notes on the monitoring process that he was going to put into place.
Captain Riker turned and walked back to her desk while reading the PADD, she then sat down and after a small period of time she lifted here head and with a cheery voice she stated that she was happy with the current progress that has been made and once the monitoring programs were put into place he was to end his shift.
Ensign Thomas left the Captain's ready room and walked to the main Ops station, he stared at the screen for a few seconds. These few seconds were all that Elliot had needed so he could get started and write some technical algorithmic code to monitor the power levels. He wanted to make sure that if the power levels did increase above 4.92% the code would generate a computerised alert message and send it to his comm badge. The middle aged man tested and re-tested the code a number of times before he was completely happy.
Elliot looked at his watch, ::Oh crap,:: he though as he had remembered that when the lights on the upper decks were on minimal lighting, he had asked Aki if she could watch his children in their quarters until his return, as she had finished her shift much much earlier. He then headed to the turbo lift at high speed and entered the lift and willed the door to close quicker as everything seemed to be running at slow motion with the power running at such low resource.
=====
Elliot walked into his quarters and saw Aki asleep on the long lounge chair, he quickly went to his children's room and saw that they were both also sound asleep, now feeling comfortable that everyone was safe and sound he relaxed in the chair opposite Ensign Mitshiba, and stared at her and thought how beautiful she looked in the glow given from the night lights. Just then Ensign Akira awoke, she was slightly startled however once she realised who the figure was in front of here, she gave a big smile and said "Welcome home."
