Sitting alone in the FCO Office, his fingers steepled in front of his eyes as he stared at the opposite bulkhead; Derek continued to rerun all of his power calculations through his mind. Somewhere he had to have missed something, there had to be a way around the power consumption curve. Leaning forward he glanced at the current readouts, than came to a decision.
Tapping his communications badge he spoke softly … "Stormwind to Uxtar." He waited for a reply, when none came he tried again … "Stormwind to Uxtar."
=^= Uxtar here…=^= answered the obviously sleepy voice of the SEC/TAC
"I need your assistance. Could you meet me on deck 8, Main Weapons Locker?" The half Vulcan asked.
=^= I'll be there in ten minutes, Uxtar out =^= There was a note of curiosity in his voice as he answered his half human friend.

Derek was standing by the door as his Hirogen friend walked up.
"The Captain suggested everyone get some rest my friend, have you even tried?" asked Uxtar.
"Ah my friend what good is rest for a pilot without a ship? I must find a way to get full power back to the ANUBIS; she deserves to be in space where she belongs, where we belong." Derek answered in a quiet voice.
The big Hirogen studied his friend. As a fellow pilot he understood what his pal meant. Pilots lived to fly, to control the machines of flight whether they were large starships or single man Vipers. A pilot on the ground was akin to a hunter without prey.
"So my Vulcan friend… how can I help?" Uxtar asked.
"I need 10 Phasers and extra power packs." The FCO answered.
The SEC/TAC looked at his friend, "I thought that there wasn't enough power to make them useful?"
"There isn't but I may be able to use them to trace the dampening field. They are the only power sources we have not yet used." The Vulcan answered his friend.
"If it was anyone but you my friend, I would think them crazy." Uxtar said as he unlocked the Weapons Locker. "Take what you need, and may The Empress of the Hunt smile upon you."

The lab bench was cluttered with bits and pieces of electronics, phaser power packs, and 3 tricorders. Derek had a fresh phaser locked down a small vice. The tricorders were arranged in a triangle around the phaser. The phaser was set at its most minimal setting holding just below the 5% mark. The Vulcan rechecked the tricorders, and hesitating only a moment, powered the phaser to full. There was a flash of red at the barrel… and than nothing, the power totally drained.
Taking the three tricorders the FCO began feeding their information into the main lab computer. He knew that at only 5% power it could be quite awhile before he would receive any results. Moving to the center of the room he took up a sitting yoga position and placed himself in a meditative state to await the results. But even before he could get settled the computer gave a quick beep.
Derek quickly got up and surveyed the results, only the slightly raised eyebrow gave any indication of surprise. Placing another phaser in the vice he pulled what looked like an empty bottle from a group on the bench in front of him, he carefully tipped it up over the phaser. Making a few adjustments to the tricorders he once again brought it up to 5% power. Waiting a few moments he began to slowly increase the power. At 5.9% there was a flash and again the power source was dead. With a slight smile he moved to the computer to begin correlating the expected incoming data.
