Stardate:61037.1130
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Outer Hull , Saucer Section, Cargo Hatch

Derek watched carefully as crew members carefully stowed the provisions provided by the visiting ship. In a way he felt that he was being punished by the Captain for his attempt to maintain the Prime Directive. The logic that he had used though not flawed in and of itself, became flawed when information only the red headed woman had came to light.

The FCO checked off another container of goods as he continued to reevaluate his actions. All of his Vulcan training and logic had dictated that he / they blend in with the locals to prevent contamination. Yet Captain Rikar said she did not believe that the directive applied to their current situation. Well he could accept that, but still, as a Vulcan and a Starfleet Officer it logically did not sit as well as it should.

Stormwind gazed around the deck area, watching as the crew swarmed through the cargo doors and aboard the antique sailing ship. He noticed Roxy the female half fox from the SEA BREEZE talking with the COO. In the back of his mind he wondered what he would find if he were to mind meld with any of the locals.

Derek dropped his hand to the hilt of the sword at his waist. What little of his human side he still allowed himself access to thought how incongruous that he as a Vulcan stood on the deck armed. Since the Vulcan way was to prefer diplomacy to violence. But Vulcan or not he had only one thought when he thought of Susan and that was… protect… He doubted if he could explain it even to his big Hirogen friend, because in truth he did not fully understand why he felt as he did.

Looking past all the action on deck he gazed into the direction taken by the BLACK PANTHER. Allowing his mind to empty as he stared into the distance, his only thought of Susan, without warning he was no longer on the ANUBIS. Instead he found himself in a room lit only by torches, the smell of smoke heavy in the air. Looking around he found himself apparently in a cage, the bars made of two inch strips of some type of beaten metal. Looking through the bars he saw other cages of the same type. Turning to the right he was surprised to see the CMO staring back at him. Reaching out with his right hand to verify the bars … he was shocked to see the delicate wrist and supple fingers of a female hand. Glancing back at the other cage he could see Lea’s mouth moving as if talking but could hear nothing.

"Lieutenant… Lieutenant Stormwind?"

The FCO shook his head and looked at the crewman standing before him.

"Sir… are you all right?" asked the crewman.

Realizing where he was Derek answered, perhaps a little too quickly. "Yes …I'm fine, what can I do for you?"

The crewman stood to a loose form of attention as he answered. "All supplies have been stored and accounted for sir."

"Thank you, secure all hatches and dismiss your loading crew." The Vulcan answered turning away.

Derek's mind was trying to get a handle on what had just happened. That what he had seen was real he did not for a moment doubt; however he knew that no one would believe him. Some would call it wishful thinking, others Vulcan mysticism. He knew it for what it was a cry for help that reached him only because of the mind meld they had shared. He had no way of knowing if it was a two way vision or not. No matter what it was it was at least a connection no matter how tenuous it might be.

Now all the Vulcan could do was hope that he was one of those chosen for the rescue party. He returned to the bridge and his station.
